and interesting that McLinden got Player of the Year in 1998, but not best rookie #-o
I suppose they decided Player of the Year was good enough. Don't forget he also won the NRL's Rookie of the Year.

I think Vanikolo deserved to win it as he also had a great year which was somewhat overshadowed by McLinden's.

best player might be like a token award

So best player: Ruben Wiki

But he played like shit this year so...

Player of the year: Alan Tongue

It might mean Ruben is better but Tongue played better than him this year. Raiders logic

Player of the Year is decided by a 3 2 1 points system.

Best player is selected at the end of the year by the coaching staff.

do provide a specific memory, you seem quite the boogs fan

Source: nrl.com.au

Bulgarelli was among the top tacklers in:
Round 2 - Penrith
Round10 - Tigers
Round 11 - Storm
Round 15 - Bulldogs
Round 16 - Broncos
Round 17 - Tigers
Round 22 - Knights

Bulgarelli was among the top offloads in:
Round 2 - Penrith
Round 7 - Knights
Round 8 - Roosters
Round 9 - Broncos
Round 10 - Tigers
Round 22 - Knights

Going head to head with Monoghan for example, Bulgarelli outshines him in offloads, tackles, try assists. They are similar in line breaks, hitups, metres gained, errors and mistackles when taking into account total games played. Source: www.nrl.com (player stats).

Boogas it's a shame the Raider's can't appreciate you like I do!!

Is that you Boogs? or is it your bro?

geraldo, i don't want to join the anti-geraldo bandwagon, but in responses to your statistical comparison of Monaghan and Bulgarelli:
- Joel Monaghan is not big on offloads - that's not his style. doesn't mean he's an inferior player.
- Monaghan averages 0.5 errors per game, Bulgarelli averages 1 error per game. that might not seem like much, but it's actually a fairly large difference. a low error rate is one of Monaghan's strengths, definitely not one of Booga's, probably a weakness.
- funny how you conveniently left out 'tries scored' statistic.
