This thread is ridiculous. In 2010 it was proven that the JV can work to provide a winning team. All that is required is an effective football department. From the outside it is difficult to know but I think Flanno is doing his best but needs more support from the football department.

Threads like this that opportunistically use the poor performance of the team to revive their old agendas just give the grubby journos the ammunition to destroy their team.

During difficult times unity and patience is required not continually wanting to throw the baby out with the bath water.

The solution is quite easy to be honest. Bring in a bloke like Gus who has pull, who will be able to attract top notch players and coaches, then pay them in brown paper bags…

Not trying to take the p*ss but, apart from Gus, name all the other blokes like Gus that would be able to do this. Closest thing I can think of is Parr and O’Sullivan, both of whom we had a crack at, both of whom decided to go to the Knights and both of whom I don’t see making much of a difference there either. Gus is like a unicorn with his influence in the game, but you have to remember it’s taken him 4 years and a complete roster overhaul to get the dogs where they are this year (mind you the real test will be how the dogs perform against quality opposition in the back half of the season). And that was due to some tough decisions in recruitment. Although it all seems a bit dire at the moment, I actually think things are (slowly) heading in the right direction with pathways, getting rid of dead wood etc. Flanno’s only 18 months in after all.
