You know what's funny...if we were any other club with an essentially new first grade team with lots of young raw talent coming through that needed developing...well..if we WERE any other club you know whaich "NRL unemployed" coach we SHOULD get to straighten this rabble out??

The club doesn't have much cash to throw around. I am happy if Potter stays one more year. But if not, do they have the money to outbid the Titans for Neil Henry? Plus the cost of living in Sydney compared to GC is another negative as the same coin doesn't go as far here.

Considering Brian Smith conducted the coaching review which started the firestorm you would think the club likes what Brian Smith offers and values his thoughts. His resume doesn't have premierships but it does have multiple appearances in the finals and a decent winning 52% overall.

I think everything is on hold until the new board is appointed.

Thats exactly my fear. Nothing gets done, then we are too late (already too late) to make decisions on the player recruitment front for next year.

Decisions must be made immaterial of coach- maybe something radical as an interim step- have Paul Fletcher, the NSW State Cup coach, mahe some decisions.

  • do we make some recruitment overtures to experienced NRL players to fill the experience void with the loss of Anasta, Fulton and Moltzen.
  • do we tell Lawrence your backline days are over and its time to train up for the backrow next year or get out.
  • do we make some recruitment overtures for some wingers / solid centres
Time is fast running out. Holding off doing anyhting is silly. Make the radical decision and get someone to give some guidance. If Potter and the asst coaches are not allowed due to the coaching / board imbroglio, then Mayer should let someone untainted by things and someone, at least the existing board can agree to, give some forward momentum and steps towards the WT next season that is lacking now.

For all the people saying that time is fast running out to sign someone, who do you suggest they should be chasing now?

The next coaching decision can't be rushed.

I am probably way off the mark or it may just be a coincidence but it seemed odd that Matt Parrish quit his Raiders assistant job at around the time the sh*t hit the fan with the WT head coaching job.

The future of WT will come from the juniors so I wouldn't fuss too much about signing a marquee player to join the club. If Potter is retained for 2015 he should put all his efforts into a new club wide injury prevention/management program.

Missing the 8 because you run out of cattle isn't acceptable for 2015. Not that it is for 2014 either but it is too late now.

Yes, I thought the same, but my other choice would be Griffin from the Bronco's, he might bring a few Qld'ers with him.

Whoever it may be, they need to stand tall against the board, the CEO & the players (hence someone with experience), rekindle some culture & be astute in there signings.

Unfortunately, I just don't see Potter being able to do that, anymore.

I will be surprised if Potter is at the WT next year, the board obviously dont wont him and the players are showing little interest in digging deep when things get tough.
