This bloke just signed a $100M contract - any chance we have a JJ Watt in the NRL?

And ffs people have short memories, he'll it was only about 7 or 8 years ago Shaun Merriman was going to be the greatest linebacker of all time until his body broke down. Yes steroids probably caused half of it but ffs the guy became that injury prone I am surprise his limbs didn't just start falling off.

As an eagles fan im aware of Jevon Kearse's work. I have even educated myself on Reggie White and the great Mike Mamula's stunning career

Kearse's best year was probably his rookie year, 14.5 sacks and 50 odd tackles... which is a stunning rookie year... But put that up against JJ Watt's best year, as a 3-4 defensive end, a role which by definition is not a real pass rushing spot, it's a gap filler and run stuffing spot... he had 20.5 sacks, unheard of by a DT/3-4DE, registered a NFL record for pass deflections, had 45 odd tackles for a loss, least of all those he stopped for no gain, teams literally stopped playing football to his side of the field because he was so dominate.

JJ Watt's 2012-13 season was historically great, statistically it was the greatest season ever by a DLmen. And right up there with the very best ever.

this just one of many articles written about just how good JJ Watt was that year.

Whilst I had the luxury of watching white play, he did play mainly in a 4-3 d, plus for many years that philli d was loaded with talent and pro bowlers even though they didn't get anywhere. Also, when white joined the packers again he was outside some great d.

You summed it up well, he was a juice monkey, JJ isn't, he is a rare breed of Footballer, injuries permitting, he will go down as a top 5 defensive linemen 10 years from now.

Well, when HGH testing rolls out throughout the league, I think we'll see a lot of things change.
