This game drives me nuts

its a fair argument...there ARE a few things that need fixing...that offside rule happens almost 80% of the time if you do a short kickoff to the right, there are too many sendoffs, jumping needs to be introduced, the dummy half player (when playing on the same side) needs to be the same person who took the tackle, so the possession gets shared alot more, and something need to be done about the lack of 'running onto the ball - stop/start running".
But having said that, all these things and more, I'm sure, will be ready for the next version..Sidhe will have JUST as long as they had to make a game from scratch to polish it up!
All these things I've mentioned, doesn't AT ALL take away the excitement and fantastic gameplay that the game produces!!
I'm having ALOT of fun! Play the game smartly, choose a defender in the defensive line (not the play the ball) to read the attack and avoid the offsides alot more, and try not to push the pass too much...I find I'm notching up the victories quite regularly.

Its rubbish to think that the game can cause so much disappointment.... :?

Sheez.. half the problems you've mentioned there are due to the fact that you're doing something wrong. If you're getting sent off so much, stop holding the aggresive tackle button all the time. If you have so much trouble with the offside rule from the kickoff, stop doing short ones. If you have trouble with your pass receivers being flat footed, stop holding down/tapping the pass button so much from dummy half and he'll only do a short pass to the man ready to run onto the ball.

A lot of complaints I've seen are due to people not mastering certain aspects of the game yet. The forward passes can be curbed if you stop running so far ahead of the ball. Passes won't go to ground if you don't try and pass to the left if you're facing up and to the right (how far do you expect your players to twist their body around anyway?). Etc etc etc. I've slowly but surely found that the more I get good at this game the more realistic it becomes.

nicely sed, the only time the ball ever goes 2 ground for me is when i push the pass the wrong direction and if u ever tried doing that in real life it would be plain luck if it went 2 some1 on the full

i think the knock-on system is good and realistic, u usually only knock on when u are running flat out on the burst in the rain

Out of interest are you playing GOD MODE ?

All my comments are directed at the GOD MODE, the only mode providing a challenge, the game is way too easy.

The player I control has never been sent off, it is always the AI player in my team, how can I stop that? One game I had ten men in the space of three tackles.

The problem with the offside rule is when "they" kick off short and your player catches it, you cannot stop this.

When I am coming off my goal line my players are sometimes in front of my dummy half, and you either throw the forward pass or take the tackle. There may be a better way to do this I am not sure.

The problem with the poor AI only annoys me in God Mode, the other modes are too easy.

I guess I am disappointed by the amount of the game that is decided by factors out of your control.

Quick example: you tackle a player near your own line and the tackle mode decides to be a swing throw type deal and you throw the player over your line for a try. Or your wingers decide that they want to play another position when you have a great opp for a break down the side.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but the bugs and AI holes in this game are too many, and I enjoy playing other sports games much more that are more complete.

I realise this is a first effort and all but I think I will wait till they bring out a full version instead of a BETA.

I love Rugby League and it was the game I wanted the most,

I can understand that argument when comparing to Madden, Madden is in it's 14th year I think and they have obviously had more time to perfect it over that period.

If you haven't played it, try it, it is IMO the best game ever and I didn't even know how to play Gridiron. Once I got the rules, plays and players positions down, man it rocks. Even though I like Rugby League as a sport much much more, as a computer game you can't fault it.

Although the whole time I was playing Madden I was waiting for rugby league, which I knew would screw it up for me because Madden is so Damn good.

Saying that though, that's why I get so pissed playing NRL, I am used to playing a perfect simulation of a football game and going to this is almost comical,

I hope they have a good look at what those guys are doing and try to grab some of the best parts because the potential is there, just not the cash and resources.

Another point would be that Cricket 2002 sucked big time, 2004 still has a lot of the same bugs yet the game play is improved 1000%. This makes playing the game worthwhile and ignoring the bugs easier.

Bottom line is if you enjoy it

Yeah i know, its happened to me no end of times and it is annoying. The other thing that really annoys me abotu this game is the passing, it is truely awful i think, i am scared to chuck a pass out sometiems because i feel it will go to ground, go stupidly forward like it does on the game or it will go into touch.

The other thing is the amount of knock ons and sin-bins, i had 3 knock ons inside the space of 50 seconds on the game !!!
I win, I had 4 in the same amount of consecutive plays. :)
