This Morning's Game

I thought we away some absolutely stupid penalties, real park football stuff, and on the 3rd and 4th tackles. I thought Scott Hill had a shocker to be honest, nothing was happening for him and he tried to force things with stupid no look offloads. I also think we now got to start questionning the selection of Tonie Carroll once again. The guy is a solid player but he just simple doesn't do enough. He's neither a workhorse nor a game breaker, seeing what Paul Sculthorpe do for GB compared to TC's game just highlighted that fact that we need a lock forward who offered more, especially considering the lock forward for GB is Sculthorpe and the lock forward for NZ is SBW, TC just isn't in that class. For a guy who's not much of a strike weapon he needs to make alot more than just 25 tackles and 4 hit ups a match, especially with the game time he's getting. I thought Kimmorley's defence was also very suspect, he could've have been penalised for a high tackle on numerous occasions and he also misses a hell of alot of tackles. On a positive note I think O'Meley had a great game, he was just bouncing off defenders and getting an extra 5 metres every hit up, thoroughly out played Civoneciva.

Re: the Union game this morning:

"FIVE second-half penalty goals to Jean-Baptiste Elissalde helped steer France to victory over Australia today."

What an exciting second half of football -- Five penalties from France, one from Australia (zero tries). Thrilling

Just a question, why was Bennett in the stands at the time of the National Anthem while GB coach Noble was down there with his players?

Also who was the old guy standing with the Australians, he looks a bit like Noel Kelly, can anyone confirm?

The first steps to improving our game internationally have been taken with this Tri-Nations concept and in its first year its been a raging success, more than we expected, and one that Union would love.

Once the heirachy of Rugby League get our game in top shape internationally, Union won't be able to match us - they just don't have the product.

6 penalty goals

Cheers.

Not an issue IMO.

The field of play and game itself is, after all, for the players.

Cheers.

GB played really well, we also had or opportunities and didn't take them.
I think Kimmorly was abit greedy with the ball as well. Hindmarsh's tackle in the 2nd half was great.

And it was sold out a good 5 days before, I was gearing up to get my tickets and then there were none. I certainly wasn't alone either. Last years was sold out too but I got tickets on the day. I think now we have a very good chance of selling out the final which is 40,000. Next week may sell out as well, its a 26,000 capacity with about 5000 tickets remaining. Technically its a nothing game but after yesterdays win a lot of people will probably want to see a pressureless game with hopefully a lot of skill.

Kimmorley and Hill didn't gel with the other players in attack. Hence our only tries were from kicks, but give GB credit too for their forwards defence.

I thought Berrigan and Carroll were OK last night and tried hard, regardless of whether we think they should be there in the first place.

Trouble is we've got "inexperienced" centres (internationally speaking), and in that case you really need striong halves setting things up for/with them. Didn't happen - bring back Lockyer and Gower please if fit!

Wouldn't change much about our pack for the final. O'Meley to start for Civoneciva. Ryles shouldn't come back in. If Fitzgibbon cops a suspension from being on report, then Willie M into the starting pack and *shudders* Timmins, Hill or Kennedy on the bench I guess?

Any chance of Lockyer being fit for the final? I thought Hill really struggled but he might be a bit better for the run, who knows?
