With the Jets hosting the Dogs it should be a a great game, it was disappointing to see so few on Sunday given the weather so it must be time for supporters to start heading down to Henson.

Love me footy at Henson.
With Souths being held captive at ANZ then it's my favourite footy ground in Sydney.

Yeah, Henson is my favourite - NSO and Leichardt were always worth the trip for away games.
Used to like the old Redfern Oval and Lang Park grounds when they were basic too - both were real gritty sort of places and something about walking down the old suburban streets to a game - Henson still has plenty of that for me.

Yes there is lot to be said for an afternoon at a suburban ground. These days I thoroughly enjoy an afternoon watching Burleigh Bears in the Qld cup at Pizzey park. Good passionate crowd, cheap beer/steak sandwiches, good standard of rugby league. The next best thing to being at Henson Park I'd reckon. (Very affordable with the kids as well).

I've lived in Auckland a couple of times over the past 10-15 years and I used to walk past Carlaw park - it was pretty derelict by then, just a wasteland really but the old wooden grandstand and the turnstiles and scoreboard were still standing - and man, that must have been a cauldron to play at!
Bit like Henson in some ways but with you being right on top of the action I'd say.

You cant beat that feeling of local pride when you walk around all the old suburban grounds.
Every single one of them belonged to the community & the spirit & tradition was evident.
Souths will never get that at ANZ no matter how much spin they put on it.

They call it progress Boo Boo, but I'm hearing you. Those big stadiums can be sterile compared to the Hensons, North Sydney Ovals, Leichardts, Brookie etc. There's something about grass hills, I luv em.

greg, they are sterile & we are forced to put up with them for as you quite rightly say, progress.
But in Souths case it's greed on Blackcourts behalf.
ANZ will never be good enough to be a true home ground to anyone let alone Souths.
