Kennedy when on the field played well. But Ricketson has had a great year and has played alot more games then BK, so in my opinion was always going to win lock of the year.

Tahus terrible start to the year pretty much ruled him out.

I felt all winners deserved their prize, a few positions could of gone either way.

One thing that annoyed me, why did beetson have to go on about how hes an aboriginal? Infact why do all aboriginals have to do this? Once again another example of how they try to distinguish themselves apart from the rest of us, and they say they want reconciliation, pfft. He was going to say more on the subject too, you could see it but he opted against it. In my opinion langer or meninga deserved it more than him.

And what i said isnt racist, i am not putting them down at all. I know you all will get all mean to me over it, its just the way i feel and you cant change it.

The big thing about Beetson's career wasn't that his gut was huge. The fact he was one of the first Queenslanders to really make it in Sydney and to boot he was an Aborigine meant he had a whole nother group of people looking to him to make it. He's probably had to deal with being different in more ways than one, and being acknowledged now as one of the greatest ever players gave him the perfect forum to let others in his position some encouragment to get out there and have a go.

I didn't see any problem with it.

And Langer and Meninga didn't deserve it more.

Poor form on Bob Fulton's part to not show up. His fued with Vautin has more to do with him siding with Ray Hadley. At least Wally Lewis made the effort to show despite his fued with Vautin, then again, he didn't have Hadley standing behind him pulling his strings.

Well done to Matt Gidley too.

only a few issues that i had with it last night

The nomination of Minichello ahead of Shifcofske for fullback of the year.... Shifcoske and Wesser would have to be the 2 standouts and Lockyer played well, so I fail to see how mini got ahead of him

The nomination of Johns ahead of Brent Sherwin.....puh leasee!!!! Johns only played half a season and Sherwin would have to be one of the form halfbacks of the year.....well ahead of Johns and Orford

Crocker over Morris for utility of the year was a bit of a surprise, but Crockers played well so i dont have a problem with that

I think Artie was expecting everyone to cheer when he said he was a proud aboriginal.

No-one cared.

I thought Mini was going to be name Fullback of the year.

Did Wesser get it because he scored 24 tries, he didn't get it for being picked for his State or Country.

I would have preffered Sterlo over those two.

I think that Ricko deserved to be Lock of the Yr. Even though Kennedy has worked just as hard as him.

I was happy with all the other Winners. Expecailly Danny getting Hooker... He really deserved it :D

Also congrats to Matt and Joey for also winning their awards.

It was pretty easy, Wesser got fullback of the year because he was the best fullback this year.

No-one might have cared about Beetson's heritage at the ceremony, but a heap of kids would've been happy to hear it.

Another hats-off to Richard Villisanti for his hit on Shane Webcke. Highlight of the night seeing that replayed again and again.

Ok it is now finalised the best 13 players of the year. Now if the test side is picked on form and not by name then those 13 players should be the starting 13, why pick players who are playing worse than those 13? Why have lockyer if wesser has played better? Why have tallis? The only exception is the 5/8 position with freddy not being available.

I want to know how he got one of the prop spots over Steve Price.

There's a few New Zealanders in there too, CH.

Oh silly me, but the same still applies, just make it go to the next nominations, i didnt see any tallis nominations there. I dont see the need to have gordy there.

It was a highlight seeing the toughest Man in League get up from yet another bone crunching tackle that would have sent weaker players carried from the field. :D That's why I picked that tackle even before they announced it.

It was also a highlight to see that Webcke get the toughest player award, about time they recognised his toughness. :D

Oh, I agree. I wouldn't take that softcock Shane Webcke either after the hissy fit he threw in not going for the last Ashes series.

The thing about "why was so and so nominated?" and as C_H said, this should be the International side is that these players were picked by us, the public. We voted for them, so dont be suprised that some of the nominated players wont be internationals. On a side note I am dissappointed for Kidley. In the latter stages of the year he was our halfback and that was it, I think it was forgotten that he has played fullback, centre, 5/8, half and even off the bench this year. I think that when he "became" a halfback his utility quality was forgotten. In my eyes he is the number one utility this year.

Yep I thought it was near a certainty that Artie would be #7, he stood out from the other candidates IMO. Bob Fulton is sinking lower and lower with his association with Hadley and c/o, I thought he was a better man than that to be so petty. Fatty attracts plenty of criticism, but you have to say he’s handled his snubbing from the Manly board and the continual harassment and abuse from Hadleys cont call team with a fair bit of dignity, he hasn’t gone to their depths of pettiness. Wonder what Artie thought of the snubbing just to get at Vautin?

Utility of the year definately was a farse.

Easily should have been Brad Drew or John Morris over Crocker.

Was Kurt Gidley's name mentioned??? He did a great job slotting into different positions around the field this year.

Congrats Buderus for Hooker of 03, and to Artie Beetson on becoming our 7th immortal, Joey will be the 8th.

i was happy with all the award winners...i was a little surprised that craig wing didnt win hooker over danny buderus because i actually thought he would, but i was glad danny won it.

I felt a little sorry for joey for not winning halfback of the year, although i am 100% with the choice of picking Craig Gower!
