I would like him to stay but on the same note... Maybe we are trying to get rid of the boys club who appears to like to add drinking to driving... well drinking to anything in some cases...

tilse miller and thomson can go... thurling is a gun when he gets a chance to run wide and hit hard in defence.. miller goes alrit but injury prone and gets knocked out every second game or gets injured

Raiders have offered Thurlo at two year deal, Newcastle have offered him a three year deal, it sounded like he liked the Newcastle set up, good luck to him if he takes the Knights offer.

Raiders have offered Justin Carney a two year deal as well.

Read that about Thurling liking the Newcastle setup , it gave the impression that he might on his way.

Good to see Jcar getting offered 2 more years , he must be getting close to a FG return.

I like thurling as a player, plays with plenty of aggression and never backs down. Tilse provides plenty of second phase plays also, I wouldnt get rid of the two.

He was a best yesterday, it was only his and JT's effort that got us home.

But no doubt we'll sign some other neville nobody journeyman backrower to replace him whilst he goes on to rep footy with the Knights.

That's great news and he deserves it with his form. Hopefully he keeps this form up.

Raiders re-sign Thurling until 2013

18/06/2010 2:27:24 PM

Canberra Raiders dynamic forward Trevor Thurling will remain with the Raiders until at least the end of 2013, after he signed a new three year deal today to remain with the Green Machine.

Thurling, 26, has been in career best form in 2010 for the Raiders in a forward pack which has healthy competition for positions, with Thurling’s ability to play in a number of positions a key in his re-signing.
The Queanbeyan junior fielded offers from other NRL clubs to move away from Canberra, but said he decided to stay with the Raiders for a number of reasons.

“I wanted to weigh up all my options and as it was the first time I was off contract in eight years I wanted to make sure I covered all possibilities,” Thurling said. “There was some interest in other clubs but I’ve decided to stay here in Canberra and I know it’s the right decision.

“It was a decision I didn’t want to rush I wanted to make sure I stayed for right reasons and that happened this week after sitting down with my family, friends and the Coaching staff and I’m happy,” he said. “I’ve also got two young daughters as well and staying close to them was a main priority.”

Thurling said the rise of the Raiders junior players into senior football was another reason to stay with the club and said he only saw a bright future for the team.

“Everyone always mentions the good young playing group we have here and I think this year you only have to look at the guys coming through like Josh Dugan, Joel Thompson and Dan Vidot and see its true,” he said. “If we can all stay together I really believe we can push for a premiership.”

Raiders Coach David Furner said the club was ecstatic to have Thurling remain in Canberra and predicted a big future for the still young forward.
“I think it’s very important for the club. Trevor is a local player and he’s getting to an age now where I think he’s best footy is still ahead of him,” Furner said.
“He’s shown this year he’s starting to develop his game and he’s a player who can play front row, middle unit and on the edge. The way the game is developing at the moment he’s an important player to have and the most important thing is his character within the side.”
