Who said Jennings' boot makes contact with Johnson? It was his knee.

So it is comparable with Thurston kicking Williams in the face then

The 2 incidents are so bloody different it is laughable that you could use 1 to justify the other. They are nothing alike

Once again:

I understand. It's fine if you lead with the knee and only make contact with the body, not the head. And wear sky blue.

And where have I (or anyone for that matter) tried to justify Thurston's kick?

I'm no apologist for people leading with the legs into tries ... but the bottom line is they ARE different. leading with a knee is far less dangerous than leading with your boots.

but if you reckon the decisions have anything to do with refs being biased then I think that's crazy.

With the comparison of the Thurston and Barrett incidents. The Barrett incident is not different for NSW supporters because he is a NSW player. It is more the fact that it is easier to understand how it could have been accidental, considering you do use your arms to tackle players.

Nice try. I dare say the poster is merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the wailing and sobbing going on here.

But regardless, you claimed that I had tried to justify the kick.

Poor choice of words on my part, I should have posted "it is laughable that anyone could use 1 to justify the other" as I wasnt intending to refer to you directly.

benj4 said there was little difference between the 2 incidents suggesting that Thurston had done nothing wrong if Jennings was not penalised. I called bullsh*t on this implied justification.

Thurston kicked Williams in the face, Jennings barely made any contact at all with Johnson. The 2 are chalk and cheese or rather a massive clutching of straws.

I am not justifying anything Thurston did. I thought it warranted an 8 point try.

However the only significant difference between the Thuston and Jennings incident is that Thurston connected with his head. They both went in with the intent of knocking the ball loose with their legs and if they really want to rub this out of the game then Jennings should have been warned or put on report (with no eight point try). It had the potential to be as ugly as Thurstons.

You're delusional. Jennings struck for the ball before Johnson was anywhere near it while Thurston kicked Williams in the face when he had the ball in his possession.

I totally agree. Clearly Jennings incident on its own was not worthy of any punishment, but the only way of rubbing that sort of tackle (Sliding feet/legs first to save a try) out of the game, is to punish ones like Jennings. Yeah jennings didn't hurt johnson, but if players aren't punished for making similar tactics, people will end up with knees/shins/boots in their face. Doesn't take much for a mis timed slide, and it's very difficult to pull out of one if you suddenly realise you can't make it in time.
