read in the paoer today and yesterday that the gold coast vs dragons games was a sellout. this true or they just jumping the gun again
that's bullsh*tt. the people who write that are the ones responsible for it not eventually being a sellout, coz ppl think "sh*tt, it's a sellout, looks like i'm stayin home"

According to todays Courier Mail:

Broncos Vs Cowboys - 45,000 tickets sold, expected sellout

Titans Vs Dragons - 40,000 tickets sold, projected attendance of 47,000 - 48,000, possible sellout.

A combined attendance of over 100,000 is looking likely.

Titans vs Sharks in round two is already on sale... no idea how sales are coming along, I expect it'll sell out as their first 'home' game... what I do know is the mighty CSSC has picked up a healthy 80 tickets to it!

I think Sharks/Panthers game will be the lowest drawing of the weekend. Closely followed by NZ/Parramatta.

I think those two will be 11 or 12k. Would love to be proven wrong though!

Really hope the Storm game pulls more than 11k.

Then again, given the limited advertising on FTA that we've had on Nine recently, i'm not too optimistic.

Have the sharks got so little support hat they can't even pull a good crowd for their season opener! There's few excuses to not be at the first and last games, especially the first because its a chance to start again and make something of the year.

To be fair, losing teams usually fail to get decent crowds. 40 years, no premierships, and the last 10 games of last year they lost for the Sharks. Panthers weren't any better last year either.

So i wouldn't be shocked to see a low selling game. Although the flipside is everyone would be anxious to see some footy after the longest off season ever (sure felt like it atleast) and just be happy to watch their team have a go. I know i want to go watch Panthers play, although i'm waiting for the Home game Round 2.

Well you would hope to think every game should get atleast 20 thousand because its a new season but supporters are stupid that if they went bad last season theres less people there.

Every time I have been to suncorp/lang park & dairy farmers, there has been at least 40% red and white, always get great crowds in QLD

I know. That has always pissed me off!! QLD just has a lot of footbal supporters i suppose and there is always great atmosphere for Dragons games.

They have far fewer games to attend then if they lived in Sydney though. So whenever their team travels to QLD, they will definitely be at the game. There is less urgency for supporters of the same teams in Sydney.

It's great that they have so many at EVERY game though. We need more teams in other states for sure.

While i haven't got any numbers, Brian Waldron announced that ticket sales for friday nights game are up 20% on last years equivilent. So hopefully the sales rate will keep up from now until game time which i think it will and we get a decent crowd in.

The 'house full' sign is set to go up in both Brisbane and Melbourne in what shapes as a spectacular opening night to the NRL season.

Less than 1,000 tickets remain for the local derby between Brisbane and North Queensland at Suncorp Stadium, the Broncos' ground record of 49,571 set to be challenged.

Melbourne boss Brian Waldron is just as confident of having the more intimate Olympic Park packed to the rafters for the Storm's game against Wests Tigers, fans keen to see rival five-eighths Greg Inglis and Benji Marshall go head-to-head for the first time.

"The levels of ticket sales have been unprecedented for a Broncos' home game," Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said.

"We are telling fans that to make sure they gain entry to the match, it is highly advisable they pre-purchase a ticket tonight or tomorrow morning."

With the 50,000 barrier set to be broken on Friday night, it is possible Suncorp Stadium may attract more than 100,000 league fans over the weekend, with Gold Coast playing their inaugural NRL match against St George Illawarra on Sunday at Queensland's rugby league headquarters.

Waldron said the club had been inundated with requests for tickets from fans in Melbourne for this weekend's Formula One grand prix and while plenty of tickets remained available, he was predicting a large walk-up crowd.

"It's not a sellout yet but we're hopeful that by the time the game kicks off it will be a house full," Waldron said.

Both matches will be telecast live on free-to-air television, Queensland viewers to get the Broncos-Cowboys match and NSW and Victorian fans to see the Storm-Tigers clash
