I can't see Canterbury v us at Leichhart. There would be a fight on the hill for sure! Especially if we beat them. And we seem to be the dogs bogey team so its a definite possibility. Plus their fans wont travel to Leichhart as there are no trains to wreck on the way home!

The games that should stay would be:
Parra @ Leichhart (always a great game, Sunday arvo special)
Cronulla @ Campbelltown (not far from the Shire)
Penrith @ Campbelltown (close)
Souths @ Leichhart (traditional rivals)
Canterbury @ Campbelltown (reasons as above)

All the rest should be swapped round each year.

On the Manly/Wests rivalary, I think its only Wests that have the rivalary. If you ask Manly fans, they couldnt care about the fibro/silvertail thing. But Id like to see it @ Campo for once.

Speaking of fights; I still cant believe I missed the punch on at Cambo...

Personally I can't remember too much of a Canterbury/Wests rivalry. I thought Balmain had more of a rivalry with them, having played them in Semis and a Grand Final in the Eighties.

The Canterbury-Bankstown - Western Suburbs rivarly first began in 1935 when the Bulldogs (or Berries, CB's as they were known as back then) first came into the competition. How? Due to the districts and each football club had their own segment of the Sydney area, Canterbury were basically given a huge slice of Western Suburbs territory. This was the second time in a matter of years the Magpies were gipped by the NSWRL with the inclusion of St. George in 1921, they were forced to give up certain region's of their district, and with Canterbury coming in and basically just taking their district juniors included, it left a very sour and bitter taste in the the Mouths of the Western Suburbs Magpies football club.

And when you look at the last few years, the Bulldogs tried to do it again, first trying to take over the club via merger as well as the Oasis project which would have seen Canterbury come watlzing in and gobbleing up all the Western Suburbs district in the Campbelltown-Macarthur-Liverpool area. Then there's also the Mick Libinskis controversey that occured in the 70's, which saw the Magpies i think stripped of points over an illegal interchange, or something like that. Some older Magpies maybe able to correct me or add to that. But yeah that's the main jist of the rivarly that exsists between the two clubs.

I have to disagree with your comments about the Wests Vs. Manly Rivarly Tiger Nick. I believe there is still a very strong rivarly between the two camps. The past plays a very important role in future proceedings, more so in sport and the culture of Rugby League than anything else. The bitterness of the Fibro - Silvertail war is apart of Rugby League, Western Suburbs and Manly-Warringah folk law. It will never die as long as Wests and Manly are still competing in some shape or form in Rugby League.

I'd just like a little more on your Wests/Manly...fibro/silvertail theory Nick.

Well I have two reasons to believe this:
*My Dad has been a Manly supporter all his life and neither him nor his mates care more or less when they are/were playing Western Suburbs/Wests Tigers than if they play North Queensland. They only used to get pumped up for Norths games.

* I can remember before a Western Suburbs v Manly game on channel 9 in the mid 90s and Sterlo asked Fatty about the rivalary and Fatty said 'When we played we didnt have a rivalary with them but they always got pumped up to play us. We always knew it was going to be a rough, physical game' or something along those lines.

Is that enough for you?
