WESTS TIGERS SIGN NICK YOUNGQUEST
Wests Tigers have signed Penrith winger Nick Youngquest for 2008.

Youngquest joins the club on a one-year-deal. He began pre-season training today with Wests Tigers at a camp in Ulladulla.

The 24-year-old scored 7 tries in 11 games and kicked 15 goals in 2007. He has played 33 first grade games.

Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell said Youngquest would be a valuable asset to the team.

“Nick will fill a utility hole left by the departure of Daniel Fitzhenry,’’ McDonnell said.

“He can play centre, wing and full-back. Nick has good height and size and plenty of pace.

“Nick will add to the many talented, young players on the Wests Tigers roster.’’

I'm sure Ronald would've hated doing this one. Might keep Junior Burger in PL. I guess that's why its only a 1 year deal.

Prudent purchase. Fills a cap we certainly had (save relying on a junior to step up) good pace, Height which is something we have lacked and a goal kicker to boot

Well a winger is far from the most important piece in the jigsaw to building a Premiership winning team (Although Pat raichards might debate that)

However much i would of liked them to accounce a key signing in the halves or up front I beleive Youngquest is a player with alot of potential. He has pace, he runs hard, he catches high balls and he he can kick goals.

Like I said, i don't expect him to get us out of the mire we find outselves in with shortages in key positions, however he should be a very solid member of the starting 17.

congrats tigers
a good signing, but what does it say about that "no room in the cap" business they were on about?

still need a half and prop, but its a start

Good signing. Should add some strike, don't know too much about him but from memory he is a good finisher. At 182cm he's no Eric Grothe but I guess he's a big winger considering he's taking Fitzhenry's spot.

Hes a good young player... Ive always liked him since his Saints days.

Had a reasonable start with the Panthers but lost his way a bit.

Decent enough winger, will be solid and will finish well, not the best defender though.

Although we needed a half & prop, lets face it after we passed on Monas, Gower, SHerwin et all, there was only Firman left.. much better off trying to develop a half in 2008, if hes struggling, then go in the market for Carney/Walsh for 09 onwards.

1. Hodgson
2. Youngquest
3. Lawerance
4. Collis
5. Tuaki

6. Marshall
7. Moltzon/Lazuras/Morris

8. O'Hara
9. God
10. Payten
11. Payne
12. Heingington
13. Fulton

14. Halateau/Morris
15. Teo
16. Gibbs
17. Harrison

would be my starting 17 for weeks one.

Young side, good speed, mobile pack, creative 5/8, hooker and FB... just need an organizing half with a good boot and all is not so bad... especially if we hit the tackling bags in jan/feb.

In all honesty, anyone who's played 3 seasons or more and is aged 24 is past the "Having potential" stage.

They should be closing in on their peak years at that age I believe.

We shouldn't have any player thats been with us in first grade regularly since 2005 that is still "Having potential" by the kick off of 2008.

They've had 2 full seasons to show that potential, if it hasn't reared its head by now, it never will.

will be a good buy for the tigers can play wing, fullback and centers with ease .Is a good goal kicker as well. Sad to see him leave penrith but money had to be freed up for some of the young talent coming through here at penrith

guess you will miss Teolas chants hey Dave.. "nice arse nick, nice arse nick' hehehe

Youngquest is a good signing, I'm not overly excited as he could go either way, hopefully the one year deal keeps him on his toes and he gets his career on the up with Tigers.
