I've got no idea who else they can try on the playing side..

I agree that its time for a change- with the Management of this club...

What have they achieved in 5 years??

5 years of failure doesn't get you continued employment in most businesses that I know of...

I gotta say, even though I am a Perth based fan and therefor my knowledge of some of the players and the team may not be as intimate or extensive of most of you, that there are some bloody obvious changes that need to be made to the side to stop the current rot.

It's as simple as revisiting the makeup of the side when we were rolling along nicely and sitting pretty in 5th or 6th spot a month ago!

The team then was:

01. Brett Hodgson
02. Jason Moodie
03. Shane Elford
04. Daniel Fitzhenry
05. Luke Covell
06. Benji Marshall
07. Scott Prince
08. John Skandalis
09. Darren Senter
10. Anthony Laffranchi
11. Mark O'Neill
12. Ben Galea
13. Scott Sattler

14. Todd Payten
15. Robert Mears
16. Dene Halatau
17. Chris Heighnington

That was the team that smashed Parramatta 33-6 in Rd 12 and then we lost a close one to Melbourne before the Warriors thrashing in Rd 14 in which injury had forced our hand somewhat:

It was that week where Princey had SOO commitments, Benji was finished, stupidly Fitzhenry was shifted to a wing before he busted his foot, Payten supplanted Franchi in the front row, while Harrison, Gibbs and Fulton made up the bench.

Yes momentum and the fact that we were playing a terrible side resulted in a 50-4 win, but as soon as possible thereafter Sheensy should have been looking to put his succesful combination back on the park.

This week it just HAS to happen!

This weeks side to play Melbourne MUST be as close to that Rd 12 side as possible:

01. Brett Hodgson
02. Jason Moodie
03. Shane Elford
04. Daniel Fitzhenry (Dene Halatau)
05. Luke Covell
06. Benji Marshall (Scott Prince)
07. Scott Prince (Keiran Kerr)
08. John Skandalis
09. Darren Senter
10. Anthony Laffranchi
11. Mark O'Neill
12. Ben Galea
13. Scott Sattler

14. Todd Payten
15. Robert Mears
16. Dene Halatau (Bronson Harrison / Pat Richards)
17. Chris Heighnington

The stats from the past few weeks indicate as much, we are struggling to post a real score with a lack of creative spark in the halves, we have rewarded our two best go forward guys by not giving them enough ball (Through 12 rounds Skandalis led the comp in Hit Ups per game and was a meter eater but is averaging some 6 fewer carries per game over our losing streak and not for lack of putting his hand up - but for lack of being fed the pill on his runs and Franchi is our most potent forward - both work tirelessly leading the team in tackles made and hit ups and meters made yet continue to be looked over for less aggressive ball runners).

It's pretty simple, 5 big hit ups from our key forwards followed by a good LONG kick from Princey, time and time again until the defense succumbs to being bashed senseless, hungry aggressive chases like we saw in New Zealand resulting in repeat sets, and fewer soft plays from our second rowers and over use of the pill by our sub standard backs and halves (with the exception of Hodgo) and we'll get up vs Melbourne!

Not that hard really is it?

We can still make the semi finals!

Covell is gone for the season.

Halatau does not have the defense for the centers.

Fitzy probably won't be back.

Pretty good side otherwise.

Covell sadly gone for the season and wont play for Magpies/Tigers again.

1. Brett Hodgson
2. Pat Richards
3. Dean Collis
4. Shane Elford
5. Jason Moodie

6. Scott Prince
7. Kieran Kerr

13. Scott Sattler
12. Mark O'Neill
11. Ben Galea
10. John Skandalis
9. Darren Senter (C)
8. Todd Payten

14. Robbie Mears
15. Liam Fulton
16. Dene Halatau
17. Bryce Gibbs

Chris Heighington could be played infront of Dene Halatau as could Gray Viane.

If the options are limited, then try this as a difference

1. Exuberance/Enthusiasm

2. Attitude

I've seen this in the past with any club that has'nt quite got the cattle.

I remember seeing Balmain collect the wooden spoon in 1981, because
they could'nt match it with other sides, and only once that season did i leave a match early in disgust.

That was against the dogs who hammered us 52-13, other than that, they at least put in, and that's all i ask as a paying fan, and i went to quite a few
games that year.

Last weeks performance, especially in the second half, whilst not being the worst performance i've ever seen, was still disgraceful.

Fans of this club deserve at least effort for their pennies worth, especially those who travel everywhere to see their beloved tigers.

Why the hell wont he try a ....

6.Kerr
7.Prince

or a

6.prince
7.Kerr

....combo for gods sake?????

Just becoz one or the other may be out of position dont mean its impossible and doomed to failure....and he's put players out of position before.

Rapidly losing confidence in Sheens.......noticed him losing composure on the sidelines on Sunday too.....normally very poker faced but the other day he was evidently very shitty.

I think putting Laffranchi back in the starting side is a good move. I think Todd Payten is very talented, but he doesn't make the big yards or hits early.

He seemed previously to be much more effective with ball skills and copybook tackling after some of the early tension had died down.

What premiers games have you been watching? I didn't get to WIN, but in every game I've seen he's done jack. Paterson is going better.

We could be very vulnerable in defence by having this pairing. The modern 5/8 is a bigger, hard running type of player, guys like Fittler, Barrett, Timmins, Gallen, Hill, Croker, Anasta, etc. Prince has been caught out plenty of times when defending close to our tryline. In a situation where the opposition has a scrum feed 10m out from our line, it would be an open invitation to have one of these 5/8s running straight over the top of Prince for a try. I dont think Kerr is any better as a defender. Having them both in the defensive line could be trouble. Maybe Halatau could be tried in the No.6

Having said all of that, these are desperate times calling for desperate measures. The up side of playing Kerr/Prince is the extra attacking options it would create, not to mention a more varied kicking game. Maybe they can be hidden somehow in defence. I'd like to see it tried at least once. We are getting to the point of having nothing to lose.

How about Sheens & Skando play Russian Roulette together? That would hopefully make a big change either way.

1- Hodgson
2- Moodie
3- Elford
4- Halatau
5- Richards

6- Senter
7- Prince

13- Galea
12- O'Neill
11- Sattler
10- Laffranchi
9- Mears
8- Skandalis

14- Payten
15- Paterson
16- Heighington
17- Gibbs

We need better defence in the middle of the park. Senter at 5/8 isn't as an outrageous idea as some may originally think.

He has a passing game, and is a good defender, better than Prince or Kerr defensively.

Plus we have 2 good dummy half runners in the team with Mears as well.

Anything that gives us some extra options attack wise must be looked at.

And Sattler in the second row, Galea is a better lock than Sattler.

Alternatively, you could swap Senter and Galea, either way it wouldn't make much difference.

Senter has a passing game, but a pretty slow and pedestrian one at that. He will in no way take the pressure of Prince in setting up backline movements and having an effective kicking game. Leave Senter at hooker or even in the backrow but not 5/8!

Senter at 5/8 would be disasterous simply because he wouldn't have a clue of how to play it... Marshall has more of an idea...
