Farah and Benji will do alot of the organising anyway. Moltzen fits in well at halfback with the style we play.

I think that the competition for spots right across the park will ensure that each and every player will be busting their arse on the field and at training to stay in the top 17.

Some of the players recruitted may not even play a game this year. But having them waiting in the wings is a great motivator for the guys who might have thought they were safe in previous years.

Competition across the park??? Please explain!!

Who is battling for the halves spots?-NO ONE with first grade experience apart from Benj and Moltzen who has had only a handfull of games there.

Props?-I think not.

Fullback?- AGAIN, NO-ONE with firsts experience apart from Moltz, who should be our Halfback IMO.
The only competition for spots in our squad is backrow, and we have always had an abundance of backrowers until this season.

NOW....BACK TO THE TOPIC
Sheens NEEDS to step up - BIG TIME. He's done ZIP for our team apart from making excuses for four years now.

I had to laugh when recieving WT member recruiting forms asking US to step up this year-The hide of them.
I dont see gate takings plummeting even though we're missing finals year after year.
STEP UP SHEENS

Correct me if I am wrong, but Moltzen played halfback throughout the juniors, and even played there in the Junior Kangaroos?

Pretty much every first grader played halfback in the lower grades at some stage. Doesn't mean you'd want them there now. We don't have a proper halfback. Luckily we have a good hooker and Taumata can kick reasonably well.

Not every lower grader played half for the junior kangaroos.

And most junior kangaroos/aus school boys never have a worthwhile first grade career. Heaps of them don't even play firsts at all. I've found some Roo/Kiwi sides from the past.

2001 halves

Roos: Matthew Bowden (This might be Bowen?)
Kiwis: Aaron Heremaia

2002

Kiwis: Thomas Leuluai

2003

Aus Schoolboys: Ben Roberts
Kiwis: Aoterangi Herangi

2004

Kiwis: Joseph Parekuara
England U/18: Scott Murrell/James Coyle - Both of these guys are off the map while their team mates now include the best prop in the world and a back that has signed to play union for England amongst others

2006

Roos: Chris Sandow/Liam Foran

2007

Kiwis: Eddie Paea
Roos: Trent Hodgkinson

Clearly junior half backs rarely go on to be good halves in FG. The ones that do continue to first grade, going from this evidence, appear to end up as run of the mill 5/8th style players, and these are the ones that don't disappear into obscurity. Even Benji got a go at half at one stage.
