So if you left it 12 months and then put it on tap, is there a timeframe you would need to drink it by once it is tapped?
It's flavour would change over time. The hops would diminish. It would last a long time. How long?? i'm not sure. Are you planning on doing dry July lol?

Guys I just organized a deal with some Panther fans. If we lose our season is all but over. They are accepting 5 eel fans to join the panthers ride for remainder of 2018.
I will take one spot. First in best dressed.

S.G. = Specific Gravity which is basically the viscosity of the wort due to the amount of dissolved sugar in it.(Dry malt extract) . I mix this up in water and boil it to add hops. Hops have Aplha acids that isomerize (turn bitter) the longer you boil them and Beta acids that are less harsh and give flavour that need to be released under 80c. There's more to it than that but that is a basic summary.
You could soak hops for an hour in 78c wort (pre boil) to release the Betas And then bring to a boil to get the Alphas. It's usually done around the other way but that is possible. Betas do not convert to Alphas during the boil. Hope that explains it .

No, not at all. I've just never made 63L of beer in one batch before.

I've got the last couple of bottles of a Irish Stout we did about 13 months ago that we've kept especially to see how it lasts...we're waiting for the cold weather to give it a go after leaving it.

Just made a ginger beer this arvo...plenty of ginger in it let me tell you.

What is your 'go to' hops for a beer? I think I've decided mine is Galaxy. I love my fruity summer style beers.

Don't waste your time with Pou Bear on such issues...he's VB or kill me kind of guy, which his response to this kind of confirms.

That stout should be great. The higher the ABV the longer they will last. I don't really have a go to hop as I like to try as many as I can. Cascade and Amarillo play very nice together. If I had to pick one it would be EKG. Goes well in a dark beer or a lighter beery mans beer.

Yeah fair enough. My mate and I were into a period of "double strength" so we were trying to create alcohol over flavour...hence some 7.5% Irish Stouts, 8.8% Porters and above 10% Ciders...

We've realised our errors and now back to quality rather than quantity of alcohol..

Having said that, we made some awesome dark/black beers... But you can only have 'one' of each at any given time... we've decided that those beers are like a 'desert beer' to top of your night.

Each to their own mate. I've drunk a shitload of VB in my time. (not for years now). He was just being a smartarse. Got me a goodun.
