It’s more that the better defensive teams can afford to take more risks. Excuse has nothing to do with it. If you don’t have good defenders you need to complete your sets.

errors under TBaz (13.25 PG) have gone up compared to BA (9.2 PG) but points conceded are on par (Tbaz (29.5 PG) BA 29 PG))

Barrett has had Moses’ kicking game for a greater proportion of his games, but in any case, partial season results are too small to offer any insight.

So you're saying players defence cannot be improved?....So they should just buy new players with better defence??.....

That's why it's called coaching.
Of course it can be improved.

Defence is all about attitude first and structures flow off that.

Attacking with your defence is something we haven't done for a long time. Penrith do it relentlessly every week.

Unfortunately our attitude has been off for a while.

Teams can defend themselves to victory when there attitude and desperation is switched on. You just don't become a shit tackler.

I don't think coaching of adults makes much difference to their skill levels or attitude. Improvement comes with age (to a point) and game time. This is why the Storm sent Harry Grant to Wests to play first grade (under Maguire) rather than keep him in Melbourne for extra 'coaching'.

Coaching must make a difference (or else why would clubs replace coaches) but I don't think it has anything to do with improving individual players. Do defensive systems matter? I'm sure they do, but I doubt it's much different from one club to the next. The body of NRL coaching knowledge is widely circulated amongst the teams as players and coaches change clubs or spend time in rep teams. In any case, aren't defensive systems the responsibility of the club's defensive assistant coach? Head coaches are there to manage people. It's why some assistants spend their whole careers without ever getting a head coaching gig. Some get an opportunity and realise it's not for them. Or if they don't realise it, everyone else does.

These are grown ass men. Attitude is their own responsibility.

Do you think the big clubs waste their time trying to fix shit attitudes? They weed them out and replace those merkins.
You just don't become a shit tackler.
How about becoming a good one? Is Moses a solid defender now because of coaching? Or has he just matured naturally?
