in today telegraph it gave a brief mention of louis luyt involvement in the world nines that was surposed to held in south africa but was cancelled
i wonder if holding this event would of helped the development of league in south africa.
with so much bad blood between black and white players in that country a decent compition would attract some handy players.
out of all the developing countries this is diffently the one with the most potential they have a strong union background and there is some interest in the sport in the country.
but what they need is test matches regularly nothing against lebenon or russia but this country needs more exposure.
the nrl needs to get involved or maybe have them in the victory cup or med cup next year.
this may be a out there statement but if we stick at south africa they could be a strong test country in france's league just below aussies nz and
gb.
down the line we need to be serious about international development
the nrl needs to bite the bullet and put in another team from nz
and put more time into png and south africa development
while super league needs to have either an irish or welsh team in the compition and develop russia with juniors playing in british clubs
there needs to be a strong comp in the off season (nrl ans sl offseason)
that is nrl ans sl put money in french comp and make it viable so nrl and sl players could play in comp
have the bartercard comp in summer and have it profesional with nrl and super 12 plaers playing in off season
or pump money into the amnrl and make it pro
these ideas and not beyond the reals of possibity because union is expanding and we need to as well so we have a decent world cup next time round

Jase,
You have a lot of good ideas.

I think the comp in south africa has had more false starts than raeleen boyle though.

Some good points however the NRL has NOTHING to do with international Rugby League. It's the ARL and RLIF that must shoulder the responsibility.
