Thought so too, no way does he deserve the top job. Most of the criticism that was levelled at Smith by the media has Greenturds fingerprints all over it. Now this is the bloke they want lol. FFS!!I thought Grant pretty much shut down the idea of Greenberg as CEO, must of watched a different press conference to the Fox reporters
I don't think Grant and the board will allow a 'lackey' to replace Smith.
Smith's stance against News has paved the way for his successor.
I got that feeling to. They kept using the phrase 'the momentum of the game has changed', I thought that was a reference to News ltd control of the game. Now that smith has wrestled control of the game from news ltd, and set the ball rolling on stadiums deals, grass roots stuff etc, it's time for someone new to build on it
Essenbong was his waterloo.
unfortunately your right, and he will be News Ltd friendly and sell the game shortIf Greenberg gets it we're f**ked.
As we would agree he wasn't there to know Rugby League history he was there to get the best deal for the NRL and make the clubs debt free.Backwards, self-interest and insularity kick in once again just because he come from a non-rugby league background from day one he was targeted by the media. Typical league, self-interest and the clubs using Smith as a scapegoat for there own incompetence and inability to run a professional club is once going to hold the game down once again.
Do yourself a favor and blackout newscorp media for a while. It's gonna be a massive circle jerkWonder if Hooper will be on the Back page tonight... If he is, I wonder if I'll be able to stop myself from putting my foot through the TV when he starts dribbling about Smith's resignation and where the NRL will go from here....
It'll go something like this;
"What I'm hearing Tone is that Todd Greenburg is thought of very highly by the Commission and has the media and PR nous to be able to deal with factions on every side of the game. He's the right fit, everyone knows it, it's just a matter of getting the deal done and trying to repair the damage that has been done to the game in recent times"... Verbatim!
Because they aren't willing to make Fox sweat a little.
Rupes chucked a tanty and dragged his wrinkled arse to the fumbleball conference - what does that tell you?
I don't understand why people suddenly expect News Corp to have any influence on who the ARLC appoint as CEO.
Who ever the next CEO is we know he dance to Rupert's tune.I can see it now.
Enter News stooge.
Fox rights sold for $2 and cheeseburger, first and last rights back.
