Raiders name team to take on Panthers
23/08/2011 2:02:08 PM

The Raiders will take an unchanged lineup into their round 25 clash with the Panthers at Canberra Stadium.
The Raiders will once again be without the services of representative fullback Josh Dugan, who is continuing to battle a groin injury.

The match will be captain Alan Tongue's last match at Canberra Stadium and the boys will be keen to send him out a winner with victory over the Panthers.

Raiders: David Milne, Blake Ferguson, Jarrod Croker, Joel Thompson, Reece Robinson, Josh McCrone, Sam Williams, Brett White, Alan Tongue (c), David Shillington, Danny Galea, Bronson Harrison , Shaun Fensom.

Interchange (from): Michael Picker, Joe Picker, Josh Papalii , Sam Mataora, Jarrad Kennedy

Raiders gave up many many weeks ago and arnt even trying at the moment.. they put in for about 20 minutes last week. no specilast hooker and we have no service/creativity.. nothing.. I hope they win for tongue but unfortunatly cant see it happening..

The Raiders are a team out of control. We are being coached by a headless coach and the only ones who decide to show up are the players themselves.

The past few weeks we havent really cared much as our season has been all but over, but it is clear to everyone associated with the club , that we indeed have talent.

The boys are gonna show up against Penrith, going to do it for tonguey. going to show what we are capable of, Raiders 13+ is my bet:)

but what would i know

These are my Q&A from Tongue live chat today. The rest of the live chat can be viewed at the link below

Comment From Adam Adam : ] I'd like to say thanks , what a great career. Back in the early days the story that surfaced was that Matt Elliott told you that you were too small to make it in first grade. How did that inspire you to achieve what you did in your great career? good luck with your post career , hopefully it still is at the Raiders.

I tried to take all criticism on board and work on my weaknesses. Its important to always have that belief in yourself too.

Comment From Adam Adam : ] Alan who is the fittest and strongest in the club?

Fittest would have to be Josh Miller and the strongest would be Tommy Learoyd-Lahrs

Comment From Adam Adam : ] Are the injuries just bad luck or is there something in the training or preperation that needs tweeking?

The clubs looking right into it at the moment. My gut feeling is its bad luck but we're always looking for ways to improve. Poor old Woody our rehab officer needs counselling at the moment!

The players decide to show up? What games have you been watching?

if the players can't lift for tongue's farewell every one of them should be hung from the commonwealth bridge.

he deserves to go out a winner

gunna be a sight on the bridge then..

i went to the game. got a limited addition tongue mask....

Mccrone was quit good. has a good running game anyway. kicking is an issue, so was william's kicks. pennys had em covered bar the one at the end.

Tongue will be missed as a raider. however he has deffs come to the end. playing out of position that really dosnt suit him. too slow for hooker.

played ok though. scored a try.

Raiders had alot of ball but just lacked the finish. they've so missed campo. and monaghan tbh. as an attacking threat thompson and fergo arent as good as he was.

anyway..another loss. furner keeps his job...no review at the end of the season...all is fine.

all that said Penrith were very committed in defense and deserved the victory. Must have been the 1990's throwback jerseys. f**k theyre good.

speaking of jerseys your new home strip was presented by campo and ken nagas.

its the one with the darker green and the V with the white, Yellow and Blue at the top.
White shorts
weird Green and white socks.

its not bad. but its not as good as the current strip.

There was effort there last night , they lacked any creativity and never really tested the Penrith defense , which was good.

They need to learn to throw the ball around , make the defense think what's happening next , it's too easy for the defense to read a ball turned back inside to a prop forward.

I don't think we can win the spoon. If the Tigers beat the Titans (and they will) then the Titans play the Eels next week and the loser of that game will win the spoon.

Titans fans may disagree but we deserve the spoon this year. The eels don't deserve it, 4 golden point games this year could have given them 7 more points.

We have been truly woeful. It's hard to believe that this time last year we were charging towards the finals. This is the most disappointing year of all my years as a supporter, in some games the team just didn't look interested, in others the deficiencies of the coach stood out horribly.

Oh well, up and onwards to 2012.

If we don't get the spoon I'll be disappointed to be honest. This mob deserves to be humiliated, they tried a little harder last night - but not to the extent a farewell to tongue deserved.

Oh and i wish people would stop telling mccrone he is having a good game, if he learns that he isn't a prop and actually tries passing it might mean something outside him can actually develop, crazy idea I know!

Oh and I definitely think we need to explore the idea of using the inside ball back into the ruck more. Doing it 90% of the time is clearly insufficient.

At least he managed a try. The other bright spot, only one more week of this hell before we can start 2012.

Finishing last is no more humiliating than finishing where we are going to finish. This team had high expectations on them , finishing outside the 8 is a failure of the biggest proportions.

This has to be a big wake up call and changes are needed.
