There are too many games in the Sydney area. That is why the Broncos, Cowboys get large crowds. One team crowds. Crowd numbers would certaintly increase if less footy was played in Sydney.

I think one team should relocate to the Central coast but i really couldnt say which one, all supporters of the side that did would be angry and upset if their team did relocate.
All 4000 of them?
Central Coast Sharks here we come.

No surprise that the most vocal argument against cutting Sydney teams comes from Cronulla fans. The Sharks would be the first to go if ever there was a culling.

John, don't hurt my frail psyche. I don't want to be as insecure as one of those nulla supporters. I mean, they haven't won anything except for an AMCO cup.

Geez, who'd want to support them??

Oops, sorry John :).

Strange how people that suggest to others their clubs piss off, never seem to wear their own clubs colours, dont make it obvious who they support.

Going by the replies it looks like a mega attention seek to me.

Competitions like the AFL, cricket, NBL and the A-League are truly national competitions. They have a wide vision for successful expansion of their competitions. While the NBL is a dud, the other competions are growing at various rates.

League, well I think they are not gaining ground anywhere. All of the problems lie with management. Management are too thick-skinned to look outside of Sydney. Rupert Murdoch was 100% correct, but stupid Sydney people were too narrow-minded to accept his vision for a wonderful promotion of our product. In 1995, we were KILLING union. I remember union was deadset struggling at that time. But, blockheads in our sport prevented its growth.

So, where to from here. I say, CUT the cancers which are in our game. If you don't cut a cancer, it spreads. The cancers in our game are Sydney clubs and we have to remove them. Here is my plan.

CUT LIST

1. Souths : Stuff you Murdoch for failing to beat those no-hopers. They represent nothing in our game and are in a low socio-economic area. League would survive without them.

2. Parramatta : Parramatta don't matter. Wests Tigers can cover their geographical area just fine. From Balmain to the Western Suburbs, which leave Parra without a purpose and clue.

3. Canterbury : Same reason as above.

4. Cronulla : St George Illawarra can cover their area. Cronulla are in the comp to make up the numbers and to laugh at.

5. Manly : They represent a small area in the world. Stuff them as they don't need a team. Md, they can relocate to the Central Coast:D .

6. Penrith : Wests can cover that area.

KEEP LIST

1. EASTS : To represent Sydney.

2. WESTS TIGERS : To cover the western surburbs.

3. ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA : To cover southern sydney and Woolongong.

That covers Sydney sufficiently. To have more than three teams is ridiculous.

So we cut Souths, Parra, Dogs, and Manly all of whome made the top 8

and Keep

Roosters, tigers and dragons who all missed the 8.

Doubt it. We just received a 9.6 million dollar grant to upgrade our facilities and we are the only team to our own ground. We won't be going anywhere.

Mate, I would gladly see the Eels move to another place if it was profitable and good for the game, but I would rather just have more and more teams.

Adelaide, Perth, West Queensland, another Melbourne, Central Coast, Wellington, a PNG team, even a Islanders team or 2 in the comp, then perhaps just have a NFL style of comp and possibly if we had more money, include Super League teams.

Only way this would ever happen is if the game keeps growing, and just dumping a team somewhere else (like Super League did with the rams) will just not work.

Your idea not only will it fail to expand the game, but it would also send the game broke.

Yeah, because owning Shark Park has really resulted in the Sharks being such a prosperous club that hasn't relied on NSWRL and News Corp hand outs for much of its existance.

Geez. I hate people who think fans would be lost to the game if their team got kicked out. Im sure all Newtown and Norths fans found a new team to support. Im sure that Souths fans found a new team while their old team was kicked out.

Peole adapt to the times. Im sure old Norths fans still watch Origin, finals footy etc.

Losing fans is a horsesh*t argument. People WILL find another team to support. Short-term pain for long term gain.
what do you base your assumptions on?

i support souths and when we were kicked out i started playing union and following that...

do you have the numbers to prove that statement?

im pretty sure we got money from the nswrl in the early 80's. also got super league money.

we got handouts. manly signed whoever the f**k they wanted for 20 years. the roosters have a team of genius accountants. souths nearly went under after being kicked out and could be sold, moved etc at the whim of a guy who throws phones at people (i dont see that happening though)

the nrl have learned through souths, norths etc that moving or booting teams is a no go.

why not bring in more teams anyway. just create a central coast team, another brisbane side, perth etc. then you would have a huge comp with many teams. people say theres not enough players...perth couldnt gather up 25 out of the whole of WA? please! why the need to relocate teams?

There's nothing to stop the NRL from booting teams, they just went about it the wrong way last time around. The ESL is about to cut and admit teams under a new franchise system. The NRL should adopt their approach.

I think the right number of teams for Sydney is 5.

I think they should split the Balmain-Wests merger and send the Magpies to Perth.
