needless to say what i was thinking as a parra fan
fibro man said:Toopi and Tahu are both very much over rated players. In fact there is a distinct lack of quality centre three quarters going around at the moment. As a big Penrith supporter, I don't even think Girdler is playing at his best this year, and he made the Australian squad.
Daley and Fittler in their younger days were ten times the players that Toopi and Tahu are.
Luke Lewis will be the next sensation in the centres.
I think I have to agree. There are probably 2 or 3 infront of him, but I think Toopi is up there. He is a great player and has good attacking skills, and he aint that bad in defence either.Phillips said:fibro man said:Toopi and Tahu are both very much over rated players. tahu is over-rated
but toopi is one of the best centres in the game....behind jamie lyon 8)
Thierry Henry said:I challenge yall to get out your RLW or Big League magazines from this year and look at the missed tackles statistics, because Toopi leads the way week in week out, even during the finals series when he was apparently in great form.
I'm not a big fan of RL stats though, you'd be better off just watching the game and concentrating a bit harder. Every week when watching either the Warriors or Kiwis, I freely admit that I am a very biased viewer. When we have the ball I watch us, when the opposition has the ball I watch us defend. I wouldn't expect an Australia who doesn't support the Warriors to have really paid close attention to Toopi's defence or anyone from our teams defence for that matter.
On Saturday Toopi didn't have his worst defensive game (I think Faumuina is probably an even worse defender so it's hard to say who really causes the problems out there), but if you have a tape of the game you will notice that he still missed a lot of tackles. I'll freely admit that scoring 3 tries is a fine effort, but because he had one good opportunists day on attack doesn't suddenly make him a great player.

DaleyIsGod said:Toopi only looks like a good attacking player because Lauiti'iti & Faumuina give him a saloon passage down the left hand side. The big boys suck in 2 or 3 defenders each and put Toopi into space. Without those 2 Toopi wouldn't be praised as much as he is.
JJ said:Well, to some extent I agree. Both players are a bit overrated. Toopi is an exciting player, who will get better. IMO he has a couple of fairly fundamental weaknesses
1. Defence
2. Selfishness
3. Poor pass
The good news is all 3 will improve if he works at it. Even those who don't rate him must admit that his support play, and least when there is a scoring chance, is good. very much the opportunist.
Tahu's similar in some ways. I think he's an outstnading talent - speed, strength, step/swerve, offload, and a great work-rate etc.
His obvious weakness is his hands, sometimes at least.
That's how I see it, anyway. If they were at my club, I'd be signing them both up long term
those 3 points you mentioned are all Jamie Lyons strengths...as well as his attack.
He is without a doubt the no .1 centre in the game.....first to be picked in the NSW side and would have been the first picked for australia if he wasnt injured.
im a parra fan and i wanna biff ya at st.edwardsPriddo said:half-man said:i was annoyed in the post-game comments when they were blabbing on about how toopi has overtaken vagana as the games best centre
