...according to World Soccer magazine.

AUSTRALIA'S A-League has made the Top 20 of the world's top football divisions in a global survey, but only just.

The survey by World Soccer magazine gave each country's league points based on criteria such as attendances, finances, goals scored, competitiveness, successful managers, star players, and stadiums.

Top of the charts was Germany's Bundesliga, home of Bayern Munich, where matches enjoy average attendances of 45,116.

In second place was England's Premier League, ahead of Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A. Brazil's Brasileirão rounded out the top five.

Australia came in at joint 20th, alongside Colombia and Poland.

The survey assessed league income, goals per game, how many different clubs had won the title in recent years, how many major titles coaches had won, how many stadiums had been built since 2000, how many players had played in the 2010 World Cup, and clubs' competitiveness in their continent's major competitions.

I'd probably put the MLS at 10th below the Eredivise, Ligue 1 and Argentina's Primera but it's about right.

I'd have Portuguese liga above MLS. Porto, Benfica, Sporting, Braga and now there's a few other teams pushing the top ones.

So, Roar would comfortably beat Celtic in a match, is that what they're trying to tell us?...

i think they should explain what they rated each league in the criteria.

Going of that list, i would of thought Russia would be higher and i'm not sure what Scotland did to annoy them.

The limited SPL I have seen i'm very confident the mariners and victory would do well against most of them and the roar from the previous couple of seasons most definitely would have.

Although as I say, I don't get to watch too much of it outside of streaming it online.

That list is full of crap. Seriously having the UAE in there is a joke, China in 14th!! yet south korea nowhere to be seen.

The a-leagues quality is probably Scottish division 1 imo. They should be 25th if in it at all

MLS is not even close to the French, dutch or argentine in terms of quality. It seems skewed towards commercial factors, I think a league should only be judged on its quality

Last season when west ham were in the championship I saw roar games that at time were of better quality than some of the championship games. Not saying its as good as the championship though but it's definitely going to be better than Scottish division 1.
