Looking at that list how are we even close to the cap. 25 of those blokes have played less than 30 first grade games. 17 have played less than 10.

Was it just the full time squad? Or was Wenty there too?

Wenty contracted players don't have anything to do with us. But our backups go and play for Wenty with the Wenty contracted players.

So if a guy is in our fulltime squad but plays the whole year with Wenty, he is still an Eels player. He is not a Wenty player. Wenty players onl get a run with Wenty when there's not an Eels player taking his spot.

Given that there's 38 in the squad, 13 of them are in the second tier cap.

True. It's more disappointing that some of our more experienced players are pretty useless and almost certainly overpaid. And more than likely at least several of the less experienced ones too.

Regardless, his point still stands.

Considering he said "25 of those blokes have played less than 30 first grade games. 17 have played less than 10", his point is brought into context when you realise only 12 of the top 25 have played less than 30 first grade games and only four of them have played less than ten.

Most clubs would have a similar amount of inexperience in their top 25, meaning the point is irrelevant.

No it isn't, as his main point - which you conveniently missed - was that our roster should not be anywhere near the salary cap limit.

Alright. Compare our roster to almost every other team in the competition, and then explain to me why we don't have room to move. Whilst that is true that having space at the start of a season is bad management, it works both ways if we are over-paying hugely for the players we have.

It'd be more promising if those in the next tier up who had played more than 30 games were proven first graders instead of fringe players like Tautai, Roberts, Allgood, Lasalo, Paulo who just show flashes of form every now and then. Who does that leave? Let's face it, even some of our better players wouldnt crack first grade at any other club.
