Top 4, Top 8, Minor Premiership
Storm 11, 15, 6 (3 later annulled)
Roosters 10, 12, 5
Broncos 8, 17, 1
Manly/Northern Eagles 6, 11, 0
Bulldogs 6, 11, 1
Knights 4, 8, 0
Panthers 4, 8, 1
Sharks 4, 11, 0
Rabbitohs 4, 6, 0 (17 seasons)
Dragons 3, 11, 2
Raiders 3, 9, 0
Cowboys 3, 10, 0
Eels 3, 11, 2
Tigers 3, 3, 0
Warriors 2, 8, 1
Titans 2, 3, 0 (13 seasons)

Storm minor premierships 2006-7-8 counted. 58% of minor premierships this century have been won by 2 clubs. Only one other club has won it more than once. (Edit- two others).

What I think these stats show is that the salary cap is having the desired effect of evening up the competition, but only if you exclude the Storm, Roosters and Broncos.

Based on those stats it is a minor miracle we haven't had a chooks/storm GF yet, in fact they have only met in the 1 finals matches in that time in 2015.

We have played Newcastle in more finals in that time, 5 in fact.

Yes, the salary cap does seem to successfully exclude those three teams

Funnily enough we - the Roosters - have been a complete basket case for almost half of this century to date.

We had the great Freddy era, with 4 GFs in 5 years. And we've had the tremendous Trent Robinson era, with just the one bad season.

But in between that we had one fluke GF run amidst 7 poor to downright dogshit seasons.

So in a way those stats don't tell the full story. It gives the impression that we've been ultra consistent where as we've either been really great or really awful.

The Storm and Broncos have been far more consistent.

so you start a post about the cap working but then go on to include the success of sides that systemically cheated the cap?

I included the Storm because they won the games those years, their fans got the enjoyment of coming first. It wasn't until later they were stripped. Anyway, if you want, you can subtract 3 from their minor premierships.

The point is that the cap works for most teams, but not all. It has not prevented three cubs dominating the upper reaches of the table year in, year out.

I clearly support an NRL powerhouse club
We are not quite the Cleveland Browns of the NRL but it doesn't make for pretty reading. When we do make it though we pack out stadiums and fans appreciate it more right.. sigh.

Storm - best coach in the business plus two of the best players of all time.

Brisbane and Roosters - the ability to get TPAs is why they are up the top. Both clubs have got big business links and their location give them a leg up in attracting players and TPAs.

Considering Canberra's coaching ranks have included Ricky, Dave Furner and Matt Elliott during this time its a minor miracle that we aren't on the bottom or been demoted to group 7.

Most of your success was in the first 10 years or so, before Sticky's return.
