Obviously the Roosters vs Warriors this year was one of the great club games....

I also LOVED the Dragons vs Parra 8-1 game from 2006. An absolute classic. Dragons vs Manly in 2005 was also a pearler. You know the one.... where all those dragons fans left with 20 mins to go, only for their team to make an incredible comeback and snatch a win! Showed the true level of support for the "mighty red V" that day

Just about any ANZAC day clash you care to mention. 2004 and 2005 being standouts.

As for finals footy:

- Roosters vs Knights semi-final from 2001. Brilliant.
- 1999 GF
- Dragons vs Tigers 2005 Pre-lim
- Just about every finals game from the dogs 1995 finals series

People keep telling me how great the 89 GF was, but I have watched replays of it and all I can see is 2 teams playing very poorly for the most part, with Pearce having an absolute shocker. Seems that the closeness of the match outweighs the quality of the footy in most people's eyes.

I'm pretty sure the knights smashed the roosters by over 30 points in the 2001 semi. Why was it "brilliant"?

Best 5 games I have seen.

1990 Australia v Great Britain and Mals try at the death to win the match and keep the series alive.
St George Illawarra v Newcastle at the SFS and the Knights winning on the bell.
1998 (I think)Sydney Roosters v Brisbane thanks to you Andrew Gee.
1989 Origin at the SFS (The Wally Lewis night)
1984 Easts v Combined Brisbane in The National Panasonic Cup Final.

Last years Roosters v Warriors game would be next followed by the 89 and 03 Grand Finals.

Think he means the 2000 Grand Final qualifier. Although he could also mean the 98 semi up at Newie as well. Don't think he means the 2002 semi at the SFS though.

Tigers V Dogs rd 3 I think 2005

2005 Final Tigers V Dragons

the 2 most enjoyable games for me. round 3 was the start of the season. young guys who most RL fans besides tigers fans had never heard of like Farah, Fulton, Gibbs, Heighington, Halatau and Harrison really stood up and took on the defending premiers. We were down 18-6 then scored 5 unanswered tries with great ball movement to win the game and show the comp how we were going to play for the year.

the dragons semi was the longest 80 minutes of my life, this game seemed to go for hours. whilst it wasnt spectacular, it was the most intense game ive ever witnessed.

Farkin hell. 5! Talk about impossible.

You would need to disallow rep footy immediately - just far too many matches.

After that...

For instance, I'd go with the 1981 GF over the 1989 GF, marginally. Not quite as close, but quite a bit closer than 20-11 suggested, and full of some quality football, interesting tactics and plenty of famous names on both sides.

Having said that, both were super games - and reading this post again, you could say all the same things about the 1989 GF anyway!

It is about that stage you give up out of sheer frustration. Especially when you consider they aren't technically even NRL matches...

for me 2 club games stand out

Last years Roosters v Warriors, and the Broncs V Drags game a few years ago, saints had a reserve grade side and piggy kicked a goal near the sideline 45m out to win it with 30 seconds left.

as a storm fan the end made it, but I loved the Storm v Bulldogs game at OP in 06 where Jake Webster scores in the corner in the dying seconds to win.
For guts, I loved the QLD performance in origin 3 this year - to me that game epitomised what Origin is about

My favourite was a finals game between Warriors Vs Raiders - Cant remember what year, but the Raiders were rank outsiders and came out and played some of the most brutal football I've ever seen (Ruben was in the Raiders side at the time) Warriors won the match but I remember thinking that neither of those teams were going to recover from that game for a long while.

That would be 2003. A Stacey Jones field goal saw them home after Jason Bulgarelli bombed a certain try for Canberra. It was a very entertaining game though even for a fan of the losing team. Both teams played out of their skin that night.

2001 Eels v Dogs @ Parra Stadium. 20 all draw. Best club game I've ever seen outside the finals. The crowd was rabid.

1990 second test v Great Britain. Simply the greatest game ever played.

1989 GF for obvious reasons.

1994 semi v Dogs that went to extra time.

97 Grand Final - Manly v Newcastle
07 Roosters v Warriors - The Draw
03 GF - The tackle
2000 semi - Knights v Roosters - When joey through the intercept to fittler
2005 SOO Game 2 - Joey's return

Probably heaps more i've forgotten but they were the first ones come to mind.

Have never seen the full match, only a few highlights, but there was a Manly v Canberra finals match in 91 i think it was that they rave about on the tape as 1 of the best game. Coyne got 4 tries i think

what made the roosters v's warriors game so special last year? I didn't c it and a lot of people are picking it.

Momentum switching dramatically and frequently, a send off, two drop goals from both sides, and an extra time draw.
