ink,you sound just like you did after our first round loss to the dragons.
at that time i tried to give you a view that would keep it in perspective.

first of all,we did not lose to teams who will be fighting out 7th and 8th.
the good thing is that we still control our own destiny.
remeber that some of the other teams can be just as crap as we were.
in the last few weeks we have seen the tigers thumped by the 2 form teams.
and when i mean form i mean these are also 2 of the top defensive teams and attacking teams.
knights were thrashed by the roosters 48-4 and 30-6 by the cowboys the week before.they were also thrashed by the dragons 48-2 earlier in the year.

the cowboys have only 4 home games left and no byes, they will struggle to sneak in like last year.although that 1 point could prove vital for them, the same with the 1 point we didn't get from the souths debacle.

sharks 5 home games and a bye.but they will need them because they have a very tough away schedule coming up with roosters, dragons, knights and cowboys away.they also have a couple of home games against the dogs and broncos.

the raiders have a great run home with 6 home games, with their last 3 games all home games plus a bye in there.they could have a great last month and i expect them to be our toughest opponent for 7th.

the eels are gone, they have to win too many games away to get in the 8.i can't see it in them.consistent teams can do it,and i think they are too eratic to make a decent charge.

our draw looks good until you look at the games we must win are pretty much all away.raiders, manly, eels, knights are all away.
only souths and cowboys are at home.

these are the big games for us.picking up the expected games and the 4 point games against the knights, cowboys, raiders and eels.

in the end i may be way off but i can still see us making the 8 without having to make some big upsets.

the other positive is that after 2 huge losses sheens will definately change his thinking on some players.
i have no doubt some players will be back in reggies with others given a chance in first grade.
i also think kerr is certain to play with prince after origin is over, and i really think that will go a long way in allowing us to keep pressure on the opposition at certain ends of the field.

the worst thing was that our f/a advantage has been blown away but at least we have got the best f/a teams out of the way, with all the others still to play both the dragons and roosters.and so far the teams outside the top 6 have looked very ordinary against both the roosters and dragons the majority of the time.

hopefully we can come back from canberra with 2 points and a wiki for next year. ;-)

Mate....I hate to post negative stuff but I cant help it if thats how I see it.

Even with all the wins on the trot theres a gnawing worry at the back of my mind....but the positivity on these boards press etc helps over ride it I suppose.

The first round Dragons game just brought home to me how crap we can be...brought back all the previous years embarrasments, Wests and saints were both on 4 points.

I know weve faced two white hot teams in the lsat 8 or 9 days, but even if we do make the eight ....which wouldve (before the last two games) made this season for me personally anyway a successful one....those last two games have....for me personally anyway.....already stamped this season a failure. Weve made history yet again for the wrong reasons.
Consistency is my measure of success. Just my personal gauge.

As for the top eight??? well I dont think we should even worry bout that...if we make it alright, but there is a lot of lost pride to recover on the way first.

Who wants to make the finals but not be deserving of a spot?

Id rather not make the eight.

I can't blame you for being down about these last 2 weeks, Innsaneo, I think we all are, I know I sure am :( . But if they can get back on track with a win against the raiders, I think they can regain that pride and support (because no doubt there will be some bandwaggoners who will have jumped). If they can get into the eight, then, I believe they will have earned that chance at the finals. So what if they lose in the first finals match? At least they will have turned around a shithouse two performances, stamped their name as finals contenders, and ROLL ON 2005. It's just my view that if they are able to make the eight after these hidings, then they do deserve to be there. If they continue to throw in the towel and stop playing after 20 odd minutes, then they won't make the 8, nor would they deserve to.

:? Forget about our primary goal for the year ... Yeah thats smart

If you make the top 8 this year in this compition you will be deserving of that spot!!!

To say forget about it is a joke, the guys need motivation and sure what has taken place over the last 2 weeks could be motivation but also it could gear the side into negative thinking which is what you need to try and aviod especially after what has taken place!

I think we still will make the top 8 - and what has taken place over the last 2 weeks has really been blown out of context to how we really did play during those matches and how we have been playing for the whole season!

People are calling for massive changes and to bring young guys into the side really need to look at when Lamb was here and think is it really what we and those young guys need - The young guys do have some great talent however they arn't ready to be thrown into the deep end just yet!

3 weeks ago harldy anyone would have said we are not a top 8 side or we won't make the top 8 but its funny how many people change their tune in a space of 2 weeks when we are still on equal points with the other sides who are now coming 8th!

I just remember Brisbane last year sneaking in after losing 8 of their last 9 games.

Of course if the same thing were to occur to us, then wed be history anyway.

Everyone said they didnt deserve to be there...and they were right!

How could a team that had won appro 10% of its games for the last third of the season be deserving of a finals berth?

It brings up the top 8 argument...but thats for another time.

If we happen to make the eight I just wanna see us look deserving of a spot....

If we get hammerings like the last two against Brisbane , Bulldogs and Melb but get close wins in other games...enough to get in....I dunno.

The best way I think is to get in the eight on merit...not mathematics.

If any side gets into the top 8 some could be considered lucky but I really couldn't say in a compition that we have this year that they wouldn't deserve to be in the 8.

However in saying that I think a true indication on Merit would be if the Final 8 was infact reduced to a final 5 but we all know that won't happen - well not anytime soon!

I can see your point about Brisbane but the simple fact is that they did turn around an ordinary season to actually make the finals didn't they? On top of this I guess thats why we play over 26 rounds isn't it and the season isn't over 6,12 or 18 weeks.

Not quite...they won something like 11 of their first 15 ....they died in the arse.

Maybe it IS like they say.....finals footy is a hole new ball game...forget the season just ended.

The respect we had a few weeks ago has vanished...and deservedly so...thats what hurts

Alot of people still hold a high regard for the Tigers this year and alot of people have said to me over the weekend had it been any other side we played we could of then be leading by the amount the Roosters wher at HT, I just don't think the last 2 weeks are as bad as some people are making it out to be - Sure we lost and by some margin but so have other sides this year - look what the Roosters did to the Bulldogs for example.

I think the quicker we can get the last 2 rounds out of our heads the better off we will be!!!!!

Yeah tell me about it, and whats even worse is that we came so close to scoring first in both matches as well

But your right once we score we will be a very different side this week I think ;-)
