ink,you sound just like you did after our first round loss to the dragons.
at that time i tried to give you a view that would keep it in perspective.
first of all,we did not lose to teams who will be fighting out 7th and 8th.
the good thing is that we still control our own destiny.
remeber that some of the other teams can be just as crap as we were.
in the last few weeks we have seen the tigers thumped by the 2 form teams.
and when i mean form i mean these are also 2 of the top defensive teams and attacking teams.
knights were thrashed by the roosters 48-4 and 30-6 by the cowboys the week before.they were also thrashed by the dragons 48-2 earlier in the year.
the cowboys have only 4 home games left and no byes, they will struggle to sneak in like last year.although that 1 point could prove vital for them, the same with the 1 point we didn't get from the souths debacle.
sharks 5 home games and a bye.but they will need them because they have a very tough away schedule coming up with roosters, dragons, knights and cowboys away.they also have a couple of home games against the dogs and broncos.
the raiders have a great run home with 6 home games, with their last 3 games all home games plus a bye in there.they could have a great last month and i expect them to be our toughest opponent for 7th.
the eels are gone, they have to win too many games away to get in the 8.i can't see it in them.consistent teams can do it,and i think they are too eratic to make a decent charge.
our draw looks good until you look at the games we must win are pretty much all away.raiders, manly, eels, knights are all away.
only souths and cowboys are at home.
these are the big games for us.picking up the expected games and the 4 point games against the knights, cowboys, raiders and eels.
in the end i may be way off but i can still see us making the 8 without having to make some big upsets.
the other positive is that after 2 huge losses sheens will definately change his thinking on some players.
i have no doubt some players will be back in reggies with others given a chance in first grade.
i also think kerr is certain to play with prince after origin is over, and i really think that will go a long way in allowing us to keep pressure on the opposition at certain ends of the field.
the worst thing was that our f/a advantage has been blown away but at least we have got the best f/a teams out of the way, with all the others still to play both the dragons and roosters.and so far the teams outside the top 6 have looked very ordinary against both the roosters and dragons the majority of the time.
hopefully we can come back from canberra with 2 points and a wiki for next year. ;-)
