Touch NRL - Waste

I notice that this form doesn't have a Touch footy sub forum with debate about the matches in progress

That highlights the interest levels of the average fan

I couldnt give 2 shits what happens before first grade kickoff and neither could about 85% of attendees

Maybe you don't

But those of us that like to have day out at the game - park the car nearby - get inside the venue early actually do

If I wanted to get drunk at a pub I would walk down the road and go to the local and not drive 1.5h to a NRL game

Everybody's talking to computers, they're all dancing to a
Drum machine
I know I'm living on the outside
Scared of getting caught between
I'm so cool and calculated alone in the modern world -
Uh huh

We all need... the human touch...

I think the point has been completely missed.

Why don't the NRL save $$$ on stadium costs by just scheduling two NRL matches at the same time, at the same venue.

f**k me...think outside the square Toddles.

Well
You would have to convince teams to play away from home.
They already do the thing in Brisbane.

I was looking forward to the NRL Touch last year whilst at the same time feeling fairly certain that the NRL clubs would give it no chance of being successful or interesting by doing what they always do which is put zero effort into making it work.

I wouldnt say they put in zero

Half of their ground rental fees are being paid

And someone is paying for jerseys, support staff and travel between Qld and NSW for interstate clashes

Plus we have those physical 60m x 40m white tape they layout on the field for TV

Even some Packball games would do me... and mix it up by rotating the Apex’s, It’s not that hard to get extra excitement into the whole game day experience!

I usually turn up to games pretty early. I walk into the stadium, see the last minute of the pre-game (if lucky) then sit and twiddle my thumbs for the next hour. Mind-boggling why they do this...

What a waste of NRL fans money opening up stadiums over 2 hours before kickoff just to play touch football that no one turns up or cares to watch

Just like womens RL shown in SOO the sport should be played on standalone venues

And its only played on half fields anyway

Touch is really only half time entertainment when team of 20 sponsers can play a team of ex players

We do need to sort out the Touch v Tag mess also

Tag would be a better fit than Touch! Tag still has some fundamental rugby league rules like the play the ball. Unless someone in touch gets the play the ball rule back in play, Tag is far more rugby league alligned for viewing and playing purposes.
I addition to above I have been informed that a number of recent leaguetag gala days in the Hunter area have been attended by plenty of primary schools. The main benefactor of this development work in schools being afforded to Oztag comps played after school hours in the warmer months. OZTAG in Newcastle had its junior comp team numbers quadruple in the past season. There exists no option for kids to play in Leaguetag competitions in the Hunter region for juniors. Astonishingly poor development thinking by the powers that be.

Touch is bad, Austag is better.

Tag is far better. If only touch reverted back to its original play the ball rule!. This would make touch so much more rugby league alligned and therefore more enjoyable to watch and play. Subtle ruck skills have been lost with the current run and dump process prevailing in touch. It's so dissappointing and damaging for the big picture in rugby league. Cross fingers touch reintroduce the play the ball rule. It would address some major fundamental flaws in current development paths.

Yes thats the thing. Hunching over before you're touched so you can play the ball its ridiculous. Running around with two tags strapped to your ass a little less so.

Also gets people doing the hit and spin again.
