Touch NRL - Waste

It would confine Touch to a social sport with no opportunity for elite levels of the game!

This post sums you up perfectly, forward thinking by going backwards is your only contribution to this site!

You own the backward thinking champ. In 1996 you did rugby league and touch footy NO FAVOURS!

Do you actually read other peoples posts before you rant on, just because you can't keep up doesn't make the game flawed. At an elite level how do you propose to open the game up once you have slowed it down to a snail pace just like Austag?

The slower game works at a social level because the players make mistakes through not knowing what they are doing which creates opportunities to score. Defences at higher levels of the game do not make these mistakes. How do you see try being scored when the defence I constantly set?

What a load of crap. You call run and dump elite!?Seriously you have sold the touch footy game short! I guarantee if you had a play the ball rule in the touch games that get played on tv your audience would significantly increase. As soon as I see the run and dump I turn the channel!

No it wouldn't come fine touch to being a social sport at all! Your version of elite play is flawed but you have somehow sneaked it through to the loss of rugby league centric rules and origins. Btw. I get kids playing games original touch footy at schools I teach at and they enjoy it. The discipline involved in playing the ball with the foot adds a dimension to skill and resilience. This is important. You have disguarded a fundamental original tippy league /touch footy rule! SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR SCURRILOUS RULE CHANGERSt!
Yes it works for kids because they don't know what they are doing and make mistakes in defence! Answer the question, how would tries be created at a higher level of the game? Every form of rugby has mechanisms to create mismatches in the defense and attack, you have taken that away!

Shame on me, you are a teacher who doesn't know how to spell the word confine! Please stop making teachers look bad!

Kicks in play and creative ruck play rules aided by a play the ball with foot rule . That's how defences would be broken up. . Not "run and dump"!

Every post you post on this site is looking backwards?

CERTAINLY can't handle the heat mate. Can you!?Then again I don't think you played tackles!? And if you did you certainly disrespected the play the ball. Just because you helped stuff up touch footy you think you know what the version of "elite" touch is!? That's crap . Run and dump is garbage tactics and play. If I were you I'd work to redeem the stuff up you have taken part in and get the play the ball back to touch footy. Add kicks in play as well !

The defense of anyone above the social level will not make the mistakes that allow the defence to be broken up, they have to cheat and run block plays in the NRL to achieve it and they have to tackle the player and not just touch them!

I will repeat the reason the rule was changed in the first place is that it was too difficult to score. You cannot argue that it would now be easier!

What heat mate? Your only arguments are the kids enjoyed it and creative ruck plays which didn't work before hence the original rule change!

You stuffed up! I would have introduced kicks in play and stronger offside rules. But no you stuffed it up. And what's worse you are not looking to rectify the damage! SHAME!

Kicks have been trialed and messed the game up, Stronger offside rules?

It hasn't been damaged, just has different rules to what you want and that is ok!

The creative ruck plays are still part and parcel of "tippy league /touch footy"if given a chance. You in your wisdom have got rid of a fundamental rugby league rules. Once again SHAME ON YOU AND the "know it all"elite" (assumption only for run and dump version) touch players.

So why were they working before the rule change? and I'm not talking about you and your mates playing in the local d grade comp.

It's been damaged massively! I and others cannot watch it! Let alone contemplate playing touch with run and dump rules! Don't you worry about that champion! Your fiendish "elite"excuse to rid touch footy of its original rules has not helped rugby league at all!

They may have worked for you at the social level, rep games were rubbish with no scoring.

Rep level at run and dump! ? You seriously think that's something to emulate. You have lost the plot. That rule decision(ridding touch of the play the ball) you advocated in 1996 was and is a disgrace!

Country evolved it into LeagueTag with great success. Which includes a kick option to get around the Touch set defence issue. Just like normal RL.

But my issue its not a spectator sport that we should be paying thousands of $ to host in major stadiums before 100 people ie teams staff and immediate family

LeagueTag works with the slower play the balls as the tags makes completing a tackle harder thus giving the attack some advantage back!
