Tour is OFF

Its a ridiculous decision and there is more risk in them running around a football field each week then flying to Europe.

My father works in Saudi Arabia and when I told him they had cancelled he couldnt believe it and thought I must be joking. Even in Saudi its safe enough and the UK is going to be many times safer still, at least for the forseeable future.

Its a massive letdown and its really knocked my support for the game around.

I agree Edwahu. I said on another thread that they stand a greater chance of coming to grief on the team bus. I was in Bahrain airport 2 weeks before the Gulf War and I didn't feel under threat at all. One conflict doesn't stop time. People keep going about their business and the ARL should have recognised this.
Apparently only a handful of players didn't want to go. Fair enough, treat then like injured players and find replacements... players who do want to go.

"A man amongst boys, more like a big prick amongst little pricks."

Topaz my child, do you feel better after that? I'm proud of my big prick, just as you are of your little pricks. The difference?Mine works.

The majority of postings on this and any other League sitesare in favour of the tour going ahead.

Some suspect other reasons, like they did not want to go in the first place, or Aus trying to take control of the game

But the cancellation has done irreperable harm to the game and to Australia's reputation, and it is only the thought that the people responsible for this decision out of their own wallets in court thatkeeps me going.

Be happy in your smug isolationism!

New hope for Roo tour
From our wire services

LONDON: The Kangaroo tour may be back on. English rugby league officials are quietly optimistic that an Australian team - minus captain Brad Fittler - could visit Great Britain for a shortened tour.
The tour was cancelled on Wednesday when players, led by Fittler, voted against travelling to Great Britain, worried for their safety following the US-led military attacks on Afghanistan. But an outcry in both Australia and England is believed to have encouraged the Australian Rugby League to think again. English officials met for three-and-a-half hours yesterday and while none would discuss the "very, very tense situation" publicly, the mood was notably lighter. "We're considering several options," a Rugby Football League spokesman said. But others said there was a mood of optimism that hadn't been there this week. "I think your countrymen may be thinking again," one official said. The RFL took heart from the reaction in Australia to the cancellation, which could leave the RFL up to $8.73 million in the red. "I haven't been surprised the reaction because people there understand what Kangaroo tours mean to people, not just on that side of the world but over here too," said RFL rugby director Greg McCallum. "It was the beginning of what was going to be the resurrection of international rugby league, so it was a fairly significant decision." However, he would not be drawn on any possible tour, saying only: "Within the next 24 hours we will know what our international program will be for November." Cheers Retread

Sorry Willow if I sounded really pissed off, if you knew me personally you'd know it takes a lot more than the opinions of others to get me going, just going with the flow of things.
Man amongst boys I'm sure your wife would be pleased that at least your big prick works.
So after this mornings news, that the FBI have mentioned they have information regarding terrorist acts on the World, they fear they may very well happen any time now, and that they do not know how these acts will take place, wether they are more plane hijackings, chemical bombs, so on and so on and obviously they don't know where and when.

Do you people still think they should go??

Cheers

Also, while I may be "behind my computer" and not in the armed forces ( or doing whatever type of job that would "allow" me to have an opinion)...

Im guessing thats a shot at my comments I left in regards to 1 of the posts that guy who likes little boys left. If you re-read the title of that thread & what was left as his point then you will see what I was getting at. There was no reference to RL or sport in general in any way. It was directed at Australia as a country, & the supposed lack of action we are making in attempting to help rectify the situation. You can twist my comments to suite your needs as you see fit but I happily stand by them & by no means do I think you need a specific job to allow you an opinion, nor do I think I have said that anywhere, but if I have feel free to point it out.
