Tradition is great, it gives us all a warm and fuzzy feeling and adds spice and passion to elements of the game. Tradition is historic and ALWAYS begins in the presnet, what is traditional now had to start somewhere. As said our game exists because of revolution and evolution. People like EA claim the people with a vision for the game have a hidden agenda to kill off existing elements of the game, I see little evidence of this beyond the realisation that some existing things have to change in order for change to happen.
99% of fans that want to see Perth, Wellington, CC, 2nd brisbane etc etc in the comp don't want to see clubs die for it to happen but the majority do see that the status quo can not remain if our great game is going to continue to move forward and grow.
for some having 14,000 stood on a grass hill watching two suburban teams play out a 100 year old fixture will always be enough, for others watching two cities in a modern stadia in front of 30,000 is where the vision is. they both have their merits and there may be a place for both as the game continues to evolve.
