It all seemed good. We'd beaten the Yanks in the Women's 4x200 Freestyle relay. Our Girls jumped into the pool to congratulate Petria Thomas on winning an unexpected Gold Medal-

Then, just as they were being interviewed on how good it was to win......BANG DISQUALIFIED.........<u>FOR JUMPING INTO THE POOL</u>

Apparently the swimmers in Lane 7 had not yet completed the race- meaning no-one can jump in the pool. Rules are rules, but it all does seem a little harsh.

I broke into tears. I bitched and whined. Then I realised I was wrong.My mum wouldn't shut up when I tried to explain it to her after I realised I was wrong.
Oh well, life goes on.

I cant believe Petria Thomas did not know better, she has been swimming at this level for over 6 years. She must have got caught up in the excitement and emotion of the victory. As it turns out the yanks have been reinstated so they win the gold. Bad luck or what?, but it was pretty silly.

Petria Thomas should hand over her individual gold to the poor chick in the pool who didn't jump in.

Australia were in the wrong and deserved to get disqualified.

Even though we wont get the gold medal, it atleast shows that our female swimmers are starting to pick their act up and we might be able to compete with the US at the next olympics. All of our top swimmers look like peaking in Athens so i'm not too disappointed at losing a World championship medal.
