I believe that Barrett would merely be a change of name and that’s about all “ Ding dong the witch is dead - the wicked witch . . . . “ It will only be a matter of time until before he , Barrett would be the new witch and we would be calling to set fire to his broom .

G67,

I'd take Barrett simply because l need a new dart board image ............. this one is well worn!

After the Manly debacle, I'm not convinced about Barrett- Toovey would be my first pick but if he's not available, I'd go for a current or former assistant coach who has learnt off the best- Jason Ryles (learnt from Bellamy) to compete with Jason Demetriou (learnt from Bennett).
Learnt from the best? How is Kevin Walters not at the top of that list with daylight second ? Freddy would shit bricks thinking Walters has a full time gig with 2 out of 3 of the QLD spine and one potential forward in K. Sims, as well being the coach of upto half of his own forward pack and rightly so . This blokes mentors are the elite in Bellamy, Bennett, Sheens, Meninga, as well as the coaching staff that passed through those clubs ( they all endorse him ) not to mention the who’s who of players, ( who also endorse him). I think T Sailor is going to be a superstar, I also think if there is one coach that help him realise his potential it is “uncle kevvie” No one is more qualified than Walters atm, maybe ever, and with him available and no one even coming close in being more qualified, being available in the foreseeable future, how the f**k can our board not be looking at the pro’s and con’s of this. It is a no brainer. I honestly believe that if St George gives this bloke his start, he will deliver a decade of domination. I am over this decade of mediocrity that has been our standard for 20 years. once again I want to puff my chest out when I wear our clobber. As for J Ryles he still has time to serve for playing the ball backwards. Maybe in a few more years !

You may well be right about Walters but Origin coaching and NRL coaching are worlds apart- Kevvie and Freddie got into the wacky and the touchie feelies during Origin to get short term 3 game benefits. Those tactics probably wouldn't work over the grind of long season.

Origin aside ( and their desire for a psychological edge ) he was assistant to both Bellamy and Bennett he also had to basically on field “coach” the most enigmatic and ad lib player to ever lace up a boot in Alfie his credentials to coach an NRL side are insane. The bloke has known and learnt how to win for his entire association with the game in the most successful clubs of the last 30 years, played for Australia as did his brother his connections within league inside and outside of Australia are second to none. A long term appointment would probably result in an increase of our fan base in Brisbane by 20% He brings a trainload of baggage with him, every bit league related other candidates by comparison bring a clipboard

Soward wants full review into Dragons

Jamie Soward .. " THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE...LEGEND "

Thanks for that link gs.

In particular, I saw the quote:
"The Dragons are a mess. It hurts me to say this ... they're just in a shambles," Soward told Macquarie Sports Radio.

There has been a lot of talk on here about "the mess".
i never believed it.
But now I do (after hearing it from my hero Sowie)
Apologies possm
:confused::D

I've snapped.
I'm mad as hell.
We're not just in a mess.
It's a shambles of a mess.
Sack Mary.
Sack his assistants.
Sack the CEO.
Sack Aitken and Lafai.
Sack Dufty (it hurts me to say that duff )
Sack a winger or two...
That'll do for starters.

walters is a no from me Toovey seems to get players to play for him if you hear the saints in the media they say that they’re backing Mary but it seems a bit contrived

Word from my trusted circle of friends is that the Board is about to terminate Marys contract and appoint Trent Barrett as our new head coach. Apparently this is likely to happen within the next two weeks; I certainly hope so.

What are your feelings about Barrett being appointed head coach?
why not he'll be at least 390 percent better anyone would simple as that can only improve with the team we have, also Bazz showed in his short tenure at the Eagles how much he loves YOUTH! so we might well see our dream at least of keeping our juniors and getting them succesfully into first grade, think Saab, Sailor, Bazzaz, Timm, Kerr, Blacker maybe hell even teach Dufty a bit about fullback and Field about half play or move em both on and turn Sullivan into a superstar, who knows he didnt get any kind of chance to show anything at all really in that short time at Manly

You only have to look at Mal Meninga when he coached the Raiders.
