Trent Selkeld Agrees to Terms with the Knights.

Just read in todays paper that he has agreed to terms for a one year deal with the Knights, plays Fullback. Was selected to play in the Country rep team this year. Won a grand final with Western Suburbs in the real NRL in 2002. Looks a likely sort of lad, maybe they'll sus him out as a view to take over from O'Davis when he calls it a day. Has anyone seen much of him playing?

Daniel Son is actually a Newcastle/Lake Macquarie lad,(Played junior footy with Valentine I think, lot of Knights players started there) his aunty used to work at my place when he was playing with Macquarie in the local comp.

Yep your right there CH, Newcastle is still refered to as being part of the country, the Newcastle Rep team usually gets 4 or 5 players into the country team. Daniel Sons whole family are just like him, always going pig hunting or fishing, drive all night t get out in the bush, go shooting, then drive 10 hours back home, and go to training. LOL. Tough bugger.

He is a bigger build than Young, he would be a bit more robust. He also plays on the wing.

Ever since it was established it has always been a country town. Even according to the government we are a country town.
Newcastle is the lasrgest counrty town in Australia.

The "city" part of town is starting to die anyway. There's got to be a lot more investmenting from corporations if this "city" is ever going to act like a city. Need more jobs. Better property for business sectors etc. etc.

Tate is making it happen, but there's still a long way to go.

BTW, the Gold Coast will be overtaking us in the population stakes very soon if it hasn't already. All the old folkes and migrant workers love it there.

Anyway, Salkeld is a good buy. Young isn't up to it and O'Davis is showing his age. Should be a good battle in reserve grade now for the first grade spot but I'll lay my money on this guy. Michael "I wanna be Glen Frendo" Young needs to get involved a lot more.

On a side note, Andrew Hickey will announce his signing with Western Suburbs tomorrow. From wooden spooners to minor premiers! Good on you, mate!

Not really. I'm a member there and can be found at their gym quite a bit. Even played a bit of basketball for them for a while. But my mate will certainly be a Wests man next year.

Jason Moodie is rumoured to have signed with a Newcastle RL team too. He's up here since the lifestyle is better. +1 to Newcastle's population. Or +2 if you want to count his wife.

I doubt it. The problem with the current backs is age. So it'd defeat the purpose to sign him.

Kade Snowden is our junior prodigy, Hulk. Keep your eye out.
