f**k off Ink you dickhead. You're one of the idiots i'm talking about.

You're a f**king piece of crap.

Oh and i didn't know i gave myself a rap in there, unless my name is Johns, Lockyer, Hindmarsh or Simpson.

Moron.

My two cents

first up congrats to New Zealand for winning the Tri Nations.

just my thoughts from a disappointed Australian perspective.

No way Webb's was a try, whether Barrett went for the dummy runner or not (which i don't believe he did - Anderson went straight for him not the other way around) and then Webb ran into the gap from BEHIND Anderson.

Clear obstruction.

Not the reason we lost - we were pathetic to be kind - but it snuffed out unfairly any chance of victory as 16-0 with what 25 mins to go to 22-0.

NZ were extremely good and used the ploy of walking off the mark frighteningly well to disrupt our markers and force our A and B defenders to retreat back behind the ruck more to cover the big gap left by the fact our 2nd marker wasnt able to line up in his normal covering position - tactically a superb move even if it is illegal and they only gave away 1 penalty for it - and in defence had numbers in the tackle at every opportunity and minimised our goforward very well.

Oh and they held the ball.

Out attack had little or no depth for the most part and Gower and Barrett looked confused as to who was running the show.

Everyone will say this was a stronger side than the 2003 team that just pipped Great Britain in 3 tests but I disagree based solely on the fact we were without one of the clearly 2 best players in the world.

In 2003 we had Lockyer, in 2005 we didn't have Lockyer or Johns.

That makes the difference between an all conquering side and a merely very good one.

And when you lose as much possession as we did - Gower and Barrett aren't going to pull something out of the bag like a Lockyer or Johns can.

Naaaah. you just tell everyone else, pointing a vague finger, to cop the loss, in other words, just like yourself.

This irks me more than anything on these f**kin boards, ppl blowing their own trumpet, you gotta have a go at ppl for having their say, yet dont have the balls to point em out......well done..

And consider that probally our 4 best and most consistent players at this level are not playing - Johns, Lockyer, Hindmarsh and Simpson and add to that the retirement of Webcke.

I agree Webb's try was courtesy of obstruction.

Tit for tat though, Jake Webster had a clear try ruled out via a wrong forwadr pass call.

Well done NZ.

Some of the Australian fans in here....pathetic. Grow up and handle the loss. We got our ass handed to us by a team on fire, just wasn't our night.

If Bennett goes and Stuart becomes coach, we'll be right back next year.

Once again, well done NZ.

:? Johns, Lockyer, Hindmarsh...yes. To even mention Simpson in the same breath is silly.

try again dopey - where have i suggested that either we were robbed or that new zealand didn't deserve their victory?

I don't have to...you try reading it again, dopey.

There were three comments in my post.

There was one comment directed to AuckMel & Co.

One directed to you.

And the one you picked up on directed to those on the thread "GENERALLY".

You are 100% right, the kiwis were employing this tactic often, and was upsetting the aussies with no satisfaction from the ref, I couldn't believe that they were getting away with it, particularly as I felt it was influencing the game. Funny timing was when I yelled at the TV after seeing it for the upteenth time, to have the ref finally blow the whistle.....

The Aussies when they play as a nation, rarely seem to play with hardcore passion (unlike SOO or club games), and today was just pathetic. Someone needs to bring these guys heads down a few levels.

go those kiwis.......the next round should be something to look forward too.

bullsh*t, your markers at the play-the-ball stood in a semi circle all night.
kiwis beat you at your own game there.

louie anderson did not obstruct barrett. he stood his ground and twent ran into him. correct call.

To be fair to the Kiwi's this has been coming for a while now.

Is this an indication of what the post Johns/Lockyer/Tallis/Webcke era is going to be like for Australia?

Possibly, but keep in mind that New Zealand defeated Australia in game 1 and only lost to Australia in game 2 by two points.

I both those games Lockyer and Johns were the halves.

No way, Union is so much more popular than league in NZ. When you look at the sports paper, you'll get maybe 2-3 articles max if there's a game, 1 if there isn't one and you're lucky while there are easily 5+ for union consistantly. Front page will be "All Blacks complete grandslam" with maybe a 10cm x 5cm side note saying that the Kiwis won the Tri-Nations, and probably a whole page dedecated to the league and 2+ on the grandslam with indepth player summaries etc.

This was my "Aaaaand" AuckMel.

Its very evident , the lack of atmosphere.

Good prediction.

I reckon the matter of time is next year though.

Oh.

A poll on the tvone website has a 75-25 split in favour of the Kiwis acheiving the greater result. Which is about right.

As for the print media, I expect the AB's to get saturation coverage over any sports in NZ, and not just RL. That's life.

TV3 and TV1 news led with the trinations I believe.

Rightly should be headlining the sports news. Not to take away from the awesome Grand Slam win but coming back from a dismal 2004 TN to beat the Kangaroos in Sydney, GB once and take the series final as highly ranked outsiders is the higher achievement imho. Weren't the Roos said to have the most current successful streak in world sports or something like that?

1978 was the benchmark year for both codes on the weekend, 27 bloody long years.
