Callmack I hope you’re firing up the closer we get to Saturday.

I will be at work so I’ll have to watch it back when I get home late.
Mate I am pumped already!!! Had butterflies all week and I can't help but get excited whenever I think of it.

After about 4 months and a long, hard Off-Season, the time has finally arrived where we get to see our mighty Red and green take the field again. I've been waiting for this day since that Grand Final last year and well, it has FINALLY arrived. Our Off-Season is officially over and the real work and the real road begins. That's right, it's game day once again! God, that feels good to say! Fills we with joy and excitement! Great to wake up with that game day feeling in my stomach and the Red and Green flowing through my veins. We take on the Cowboys tonight up there in Cairns in our first hit-out of 2022, our first trial of 2022. I know it's only a trial but it's still really important, you don't need me to tell you the importance of trials.

Not sure what to expect from the Cowboys today as a lot oof their players are unknown to me currently so it's hard to predict what sort of side we'll come up against. However, just because they're unknown, doesn't mean they should be underestimated. I'm sure we're in for a really tough game today.

A win would be nice but the result doesn't really matter. It's about all those young guns and fringe guys taking the field today and donning the famous jersey, giving their all, showing their commitment, staking their claim for the Season ahead and showing us what they've got. It's a chance to test combinations and see how guys settle into new positions, we all know that's what it's about. I'm a bit disappointed the likes of Taaffe, Ilias and Havili aren't playing but I'm still so excited to see how the other guys go. Especially interested in Paulo at left centre, Young Karapani, Hawkins at halfback as we may need him throughout the Season, Mitchell starting and also some of the other fringe guys like Sele and Cartwright getting a go. A lot of new young fullas I've never seen play before either so that's exciting.

Just want to see everyone give it their all today!! First trial for 2022, Footy is back! I'm so bloody ready, lessshhhgoooooo!!!!

Well here we we are the footy is back once again and how great it feels. All the boys have been working very hard over pre season and now will finally get some game time. I’m looking forward to seeing a few of our fringe first graders plus all the young guys coming through show what they’ve got. Some may say it’s not important well the result isn’t but for these young lads it’s a chance to show JD that they could be relied open in the season when/if needed. The guys I’m looking most forward to seeing are Paulo and Karipani at centre, Hawkins at HB, Mamozelos at hooker, Shaq and Moale at prop, Jed on the edge, Sele at lock and guys like Duncan and Vialolo off the bench. And I’m sure the Cows will turn up as well they have plenty of young talent on display so it’ll be a tough willing game.

I am a bit disappointed Ta’affe, Ilias and Havili are no longer playing but there really isn’t a need to play them today. Anyhow it’s time once more to that red and green adrenalin flowing through your veins.

OK AS OF 6PM EVERYONE ON YOUR FEET LETS GET RIGHT BEHIND OUR BABY RABBITOHS SHOW THE COLOURS CLAP YOUR HANDS STAMP YOUR FEET SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT AS JEZZA WILL SAY HERE THEY COME YOUR SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS! GLORY GLORY LETS GO RABBITOHS!!!

Good luck to all the young fullas and fringe players wearing our jersey today. Go out there, give it your all and do the club proud.

The post-Wayne and Reyno era is about to get underway.

Footy is back!! Let's go and get these Cowboys!!

In Shannon Gardiner’s highlights reel on YouTube, it’s mostly him kicking, passing and getting dumped on his head. On his 2nd touch today he kicked the ball dead. I have a strange feeling we will see him play a lot of 1st grade for Souths in the future.

Obviously a bit disappointed with the result, a win would have been nice but we need to remember it's a trial game and doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of things. Too much ill-discipline and dropped ball, which is too be expected in a trial but I thought it really cost us. Constantly gave them penalties to let them out of their own end and made errors at the crucial times. Pretty sure all the Cowboys tries came off the back of an error or a penalty.

Still, not a bad hit out for our young guns, I was impressed with the defence at times and we did put on a few nice attacking shapes. Plenty could have been done better but I'm proud of them. Good for them to get a run and I'm just glad to see the Red and green back out there!

I'll go through my stand outs and disappointments once I've watched the replay tomorrow.

3Ms good - Mitchell, Moale, mamezoulos. Tallis Duncan looks a good prospect. Karapani pick of the backs.
