After watching the replay, my stand outs were as follows,

Mitchell: One of our best for sure, really lead the pack and exceeded my expectations. Every run he had was barnstorming, constantly carrying bodies with him and he even slipped a great offload early in the first half. I was surprised at the minutes he got through too and he didn't seem to excessively struggle with his fitness. 10 runs for 113 meters is great!! Has earnt an NRL contract in my eyes and I'm sure JD would agree.

Karapani: Looked very likely all night. It's the first time I've really seen him play and man, he's an athlete. Big, strong, powerful, with great footwork. Got through plenty of work and looked super dangerous and hard to handle. Topped the run meters for us with 157. Hoping he gets a run in the Charity Shield next week so we can see how he goes with the full team. Certainly in the mix for a Round 1 spot I believe.

Sele: One of our better forwards, especially to start the game. Some really strong carries but it was his defence I loved the most. Put in some really great shots.

Mamouzelos: Every time I've seen this kid play, he just oozes class and that was no different last night. Controlled the ruck pretty nicely, good service and had a few darts as well. He even went close to scoring at one stage. One hell of a defender too which you obviously need in a hooker, he was always busy there. It's a shame he went off with that head knock.

Duncan: First time I've seen a lot of Tallis too but I really like the look of him. Someone has already mentioned it but he does have a similar style to Cam Murray. Smaller in stature but has an uncanny knack of still being able to drive forward and make good meters. That was on show last night. He played decent minutes and really had a good dig. can't wait to see more of this guy and once is body fills out a bit more, I'm hoping he's a star of the future.

Thompson: Didn't do anything really special but he just looked really hard to tackle. Got into some work and made some big runs, one of which set up our second try.

And unfortunately, there were a few disappointments,

Paulo: Jaxson was probably the biggest let down for me last night. Was really looking forward to seeing how he went in the new position but he showed nothing apart from two errors and maybe one try-saving tackle. I know it's hard to judge off last night because he didn't have the regulars around him so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt but his attitude was still way off. Looked disinterested. I get that things are going to be clunky in attack because it's not the first grade side but as one of the only first grade players out there last night, Jaxson should have been standing up and leading the way with carries and other areas of the game. He didn't do that at all. See how he goes next week with the full line up around him but in my eyes, Karapani is now well and truly nipping at his heels for that left centre spot.

Hawkins and Campagnolo: Both had pretty good kicking games and a few nice touches, especially Jack with the hand he played in both of our tries but aside from that, they didn't offer much creativity in attack.

Gagai: Had two really classy touches in our two tries, I'll give him that but was otherwise pretty average.

I feel bad for being a bit critical of some of the guys because we need to remember it was basically a reserve grade trial, it was the first hit out of the year and most of them have hardly played the last two years but just calling it as i saw it.

Still, as I have said, it was a decent hit out and we can take a lot out of that game.

Ive no issues with your assesment, remember these boys havent played since last june, whilst the cowboys had a full season, our boys as ive said here many times are underdone and it will take a while, probably half the season to get it back. Paulo, i feel sorry for,ive critisized him over the last couple of seasons but he performed last year, now he looks lost,he has never played centre,id put him back on the wing and play that beast karapani, wow what a talent, even gagai showed he might be able to step up.
Shaq played great but needs more conditioning than others,as someone whos battled obesety all my life, its hard to lose weight but when u do you need lots of weights and double the conditioning than others,if he keeps this up he will become special. Moale needs more mongrel, more intensity, he dosent run with intent, capagniolo showed he has talent and will come good, hawkins, well i dont think he controls the game enough and needs nsw cup,

We have to give Paulo another go next week but he needs to lift sometimes comes across as too casual.

Moale will be ok remember he hasn’t really played against men yet he will get stronger plenty of potential upside is big.

My biggest concern where I think we lack the most is our lack of halves depth.

I didn’t see enough yesterday to fill me with confidence should a couple of injuries hit in the halves.

How Bijorac is in the top 30 over Karipani I can’t understand. I’m confident Karipani will play lots of first grade for us whether it be on the wing or at centre.

I thought Sele was a standout with his clean up work he brought lots of energy. Jed Cartwright waste of time still can’t understand why we signed him for 3 years.

Shaq I was very happy with he might get a development contract and we might see him debut around origin time.

Mamozelos I was very happy with but he copped another head knock I fear that may be what holds him back.

This Tallis Duncan looks a good prospect as well once he builds more confidence and a bit of size he reminded me of a Cam Murray type of player.

I know it’s only February but I wasn’t impressed with the on field ref yesterday and as for the Duncan sin bin I shouldn’t be surprised with Atkins in the bunker we we don’t get 7-8 calls out of 10 when he’s involved in our games. He’s a disgrace you all know I can’t stand him.

f**k these Penrith young ......... they have like 3 times the amount of quality youngsters that we have
I didnt want to vent my pessimistic attitude, i know a few here always look positive, but youve opened the door, apart from the fact our boys are grossly underdone, i was really disappointed, hawkins showed no organisation, id say he is on his last season chance. But i was thinking that if these are our black gun rabbitohs , we dont have much quality, and as i have said here many times our recruitment is garbage and your right penrith have class in spades, the fact our SG ball and Harold Matts have lost the 2 games played shows we are sliding badly.
