The trial will be streamed on the Dolphins website and they should have a VOD within 24 hours.

It's a historic game for the franchise as they look to make the step up to the NRL. Plenty of young hopefuls in their team from Redcliffe, CQ and PNG along with a few NRL contracted players. In the centre of it all will be Isaiya Katoa, the young half from Penrith who is considered the future of the club. He'll be joined by his Panthers team mate Mason Teague, former Queensland junior rep Harrison Graham as well as a host of others as exciting youngsters to keep an eye on.

Still waiting on a VOD of the game, sadly it appears that the facebook stream IBM shared is the best we're going to get.

It's difficult to read too much into the performance from the Nathan Fien coached Dolphins. By that point the damage had been done with the Dolphins scoring 16 of the 24 points they would go onto score. From the vision we have access to we see where the Dolphins begin to pull up stumps and give their affiliate players a run and the game understandably becomes messy with a slew of errors from both teams.

So that leaves us with just two tries to comment on for the Dolphins. The first was off the back of a try-line intercept from Brayden McGrady. In the lead up, Aaron Moore had kicked a 40/20 to put the Capras in prime field position to go back to back. However McGrady read the cut-out pass intended for Brandon Roberts who did well to reel McGrady in. From the ensuing play, the Dolphins were able to spread it and Tai eventually crashed over for the game-sealing try.

Then in the 65th minute, after two sets on the Capras line, the Dolphins would score their final try. It was off the back of one of their own, prop Tyler Szepanowski who shrugged off the tackle of Trey Brown to give Mason Teague a nice quick play the ball. Teague had no issue accepting the invitation, making a beeline to the title and bowling the would be Capras defence over.

Highlights are available on the Dolphins website but until we have access to the opening 22 minutes it's a difficult game to read into from an NRL perspective.

How did the png guys in both sides perform?

especially the png players in the dolphins team.
They were in the thick of the action as soon as they came on. On first impressions, Tai has a strong carry on him but didn't appear comfortable on the wing which makes sense because he predominately plays as a centre/second-row type of player.

Judah Rimbu brought plenty of energy and was constantly looking to duck and wave in traffic. He couldn't quite evade the opposition but he appeared likely with his running game.

Tanabi was constantly just steaming ahead looking to lay a platform for his team mates. The Capras had a difficult time trying to contain him and it appeared they adjusted mid-match to get more numbers on him.

He's with the Dolphins now, but Simbiken also appeared to be a handful and I recall he came up with a few good defensive plays late in the game.

I wouldn't say they played unbelievably and made the coaching staff think twice but they didn't their chances any harm either. If they can build on that form in QCup, they could be bolters.

I’m guessing that the dolphins are pretty stacked in the centre and 2nd row position hence tai playing on the wing which is a little unfortunate for him.

id be very surprised to see any of the png guys make the top 30 or secure development contract apart from maybe tanabi.

All good learning experience for them and hopefully play a part in them eventually making it to the NRL someday.

Methinks because of the high huditity and temperate, both sides played as well as they could. And at this stage in their formative year, I think it's only fair in not to cast judgement on the Fins until they have had a full first year or so in the comp so they can improve from there. IMO, it'll take a good 3-5 years to be fully competitive, and all the best to them.

If anyone in here can relate to their own club's formative years, and the struggle they ensued, I'm sure some would empathize.
