Just wondering if anyone at the trials today could start up a thread to provide score updates and player info?

Full time:
NSW CUP TRIAL: BALMAIN 8- WENTWORTHVILLE 8

Wests Tigers

11/02/2012 5:49:45 PM

Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers drew 8-all with Wentworthville Magpies in a NSW Cup trial at Bluetongue Stadium this afternoon.
The NSW Cup trial match was reduced to 30 minutes after a significant delay following an earlier thunderstorm.
Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers opened the scoring in the 11th minute through left centre Tim Simona after some smart run around play by five-eighth Dane Chisholm for a 4-0 lead.
Wentworthville drew level 4 minutes later through a try out wide to full-back Jake Mullaney.
The Tigers went to an 8-4 lead when former rugby winger John Grant stepped inside and past his opponent to score in the 27th minute. It was a fine reward for Grant who made a break down the right flank to link up with Chisholm on the previous play.
Wentworthville drew level through winger Jerome MacKenzie two minutes later after Tigers full-back Linc Port flew high to take a bomb only to spill the ball into
an opposition player.

Chisolm, Schirnack & Grant were the standouts I have been told.

But given such a limited game time its hard to judge anything

Decent game, however the second half was poor and scrappy from both teams. Hard to keep up with all the interchanges and even players with no numbers on their jerseys out there later in the game.

First half we were good. First 10 minutes Parra had a lot of ball including multiple repeat sets on our line and came up with nothing. Reddy's defense was excellent on our line, saved at least two tries with great tackles.

Utai had a blinder in the first half apart from one dropped ball. Ran hard, finished well (two tries) and even defended OK.

Benji and Moltzen played well. Benji's kicking was great, found the grass on most occasions and almost kicked a 40/20. Moltzen did not do any general play kicking which is my main issue with him playing halfback. Obviously it is a Sheens decision for him not to kick but I remain concerned that even in a match without Farah he did not do any general play kicking.

In the forwards Blair was the standout. Just quality in everything he does, didn't look like he broke a sweat out there but still impressed. His defense is quality. Ellis also his usual self on the right.

Woods went well but Groat really needs to work on his hands, dropped another easy one tonight. BMM looks even bigger than last season (he is truly MASSIVE). Had an excellent few touches including one great hit up where he dragged four players with him for about five meters. He was quiet after this though. For mine needs to get more involved as I feel if he is switched on he could be a truly damaging weapon.

Finally, first I saw of Tedesco and after 20 minutes you can clearly see he has it. When Ellis made a line break for Ryan's try he was immediately in support on the inside. Took two bombs with ease, including a very difficult one. Directs the defense from the back and was talking a lot. He did make two fumbles in the in-goal, but neither resulted in any points conceded.

All in all a good hit out, even though the second half was really scrappy.

Agree with hybrid re groat. No doubts he has huge potential And has slimmed out over the off season, but he still doesn't look like a full time first grader IMO. At this stage I would have bell, BMM and schirnack ahead of him for the bench spots. He really cost us in the warriors semi last year and still appears to have trouble with the speed of first grade.

We can't expect every young forward to be like woods and seem like a veteran as soon as they hit first grade. He needs to be worked in with a few games here and there over the year.

I wasn't sold on reddy at all. I was behind the goal posts for the first tackle he pulled off. Sandow had done well and created space for the opposing center (Morgan I think?)but he ran a terrible line which allowed reddy to take him fairly easily. If this bloke wasnt a genius then he would have scored.

Then early in the second half a Blair offload gave him a 2 on 1 where the winger should have scored easily but he butchered it. If Lawrence was playing left center I think we would have scored 3 or 4 more tries. Then again it's not really fair to compare him to Lawrence.
