Tongue back for home trip to Tamworth

Canberra Raiders Captain Alan Tongue has been declared fit to play and will lead the Green Machine against the Bulldogs in his home town match in Tamworth.
Raiders recruit Matt Orford has failed to pass a fitness test for the match and will not travel with the side, nor will Joel Thompson who will rest his rib injury to ensure he’s available for round one.
Tongue said he’s looking forward to returning to his home town for the match and said he wouldn’t be the only familiar face for the locals.
“It’s a huge thrill to be able to lead the team at Tamworth and all my family and friends will be at the game so its exciting,” Tongue said. “Tom Learoyd-Lahrs also has plenty of friends and family in Tamworth so I wont be the only one from the area.”

Hmm a bit disappointing the Orford won't get a run before the season kicks off.

I'm thinking we might be taking a spare halfback into the Sharks game as a precaution.

I can understand the a biggger squad , with a couple of FG out , he is allowing the fringe players to prove themselves if they are needed for Round 1.

Not so fussed about the squad size just would like to see him name a starting 13. Partly for Fantasy purposes partly to gauge what our round 1 team is.

Sounds like the usual crap which we were playing in the opening few rounds last year. The positive was in the second half where Williams setup a couple of tries and Buttriss assisted.

Not surprising. From what I heard Picker was average for South Logan and we all know about Tongue at hooker.

Picker isnt up to FG standard , he wasn't last year and by the sound of it he still isnt.

DF has to get this idea of Tongue in a play making role of any sort out of his head.

Yeah agree.... tongue needs to be a super sub. A terrier that just tackles everything he can get his hands on.
