ive been involved with the tigers for about 5years now through my dad mainly and ive been their through a premiership, ive seen players come and go but never have i ever had anything rlly bad thign to say about this club.

i just like to start by saying a little something about Dane Laurie

i spoke to him in the sheds after the game and i said "mate how do you do it, you were just everywhere, putting in tackles and making those big runs"

and his response was "thanks buddy, i just do it for my team and to earn my stay in first grade"- THATS A TRUE STAR!

when was the last time one of my parra boys could HONESTLY say that? not this season definitely!

and hes just such a nice guy aswell no big head (not mentally enyway) no "im too good for a kid like you" attitude, just a BIG handshake and a smile. when i talk to a couple of the tigers boys ther is a certain arrogance about them (John morris especially) but tbh this club has 5 of the nicest blokes ive ever met;

Benji
Robbie F
Dane Laurie
Chris Lawrence
Brett Hodgson

and the coach aint too bad eetha.

after the campbelltown game both robbie farah and chris lawrence took the time to write a get well soon card for my girlfreind who is a strong tigers supporter and is currently in hospital after a car accident. and not only did they write a card each one of them took a tigers banner off the wall in the change rooms and signed it for her. THATS A TRUE STAR!

again i gave each of them a call the next day from the hospital to let them know the appreciation of my girlfriend and as soon as i mentioned to both of them (seperate calls) that i was with her at the time they both asked to speak to her:

Robbie- something along the lines of "hey young lady, sorry to hear about your accident, those signatures were the least i could do. i hope you have a quick recovery and i hope to meet you sometime"

Chris- "hey there, sorry to hear about your awful accident, i hope everything turns out well for you. (after my gfs thnku) aw dont even mention it, its the least i could do"

THERE ARE 2 TRUE STARS!!

the other week after we beat you guys (sorry to rub it in) i asked benji for a 10minute interview (for my school PE assignment) and even with a physio rubbing his shoulder and big ice pack taped around his ribs he took the time to sit at one end of that locker room for about 20minutes helping write my story. i know it doesnt sound like much, a 20minute chat, but it rlly meant sumthn to me that he stopped all his post match activities to sit down with me, i gave him a call the next day to thank him again and his response:

"dont even mention it little man, it was my pleasure"- now THATS A TRUE STAR :D

now, sure you guys arent doin much better than us atm but the atmosphere and attitude within the team is priceless, something our parra boys could really take a lesson from.

so i just wanted to stop by and say that the west tigers are a club who have complete and utter respect for, and they deserve nothing less!

DOES ENYONE HAVE SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT THE TIGERS PLAYERS?

You forgot Halatau, he has always stood out as being the nicest in my books, he has so much respect for the fans, often running over and thanking them after a game. Many times he has given me a kiss on the cheek when he has seen me, and I'm only a fan to him, I dont know him away from footy at all yet he respects that I follow the team so much that he does that. What a champion.

The 2005 Tigers in the weeks leading up to the Grand Final took time out to sign a lot of gear for sick kids and adults.

Now I know for a fact that some of this was done in their own time, not just the club telling them to do something.

They were true stars.

Lets not forget the lower grades either, they also do a hell of a lot for fans and it doesn't get much media attention. A lot of school visits, hospitals too, I know of NYC players that have taken their own time to return to the hospital to see a fan that they had visited previously with the club because he wanted to do more for that child, he had some of the other boys autograph a jersey or something he owned at home and took it back to the hospital and presented it to her. That player has a lot of heart. Well done Blake Lazarus.

a couple of years ago i was absolutely blind at northies and saw darren senter at the bar (who is one of my all time favourite players). i went up to him and told him i wanted to buy him a drink, he refused but i insisted, to the point of me yelling at him. i bought him one and he told me where he was and to come over for a chat anytime i wanted. i didnt want to bother him anymore so left him alone. about an hour later i was at the bar and got a tap on my shoulder, it was dazz! he told me it was his shout but i said not to worry cause i was getting a big round, he asked me what my mates wanted and he bought us all drinks!!

About three years ago Darren Senter came into my work at started abusing me. I just walked off. After he said what he said there was a look on his face of "oh, wow... that was a bit harsh" and I just took it on the shoulder, but he was a douche and have never liked him since.

All clubs have players who do behind the scenes work,Souths work with aboriginal children in and around the city.
But it's nice to know we have some level headed players, also interesting you say Morris has a big head,it ain't because he is a star.
Thanks Niall.

Never met any of the boys, but it's good to hear some of them are top blokes.

By the way, did Daine Laurie's handshake break your hand?

Thanks for that Niall, its really nice to hear these sorts of things about our club when we are in such a downward spiral at the moment.. it restores a little faith that the club is still strong internally.

I have only met the boys at members bbqs and things like that but 2 players stand out to me as being really nice guys up for a chat, thats Flanno & Kapow... both happy as larry to have a chat, no ego what so ever just nice down to earth guys.

John Morris on the other hand, i see him at Parra Westfields all the time and always ignores any hellos or go the tigers words as i pass him.

LOL reminds me of my childhood when the kids could run on the field after the game and a Balmain Legend who i wont name was overheard by myself as saying "i wished they would get all these F*&king kids of the field!!" We actually won the game too so im not sure why he was so pissed off..lol.
Also it was mentioned about John Morris has a bad attitude, My mate was doing a commercial with the team and he noticed that as well. lol he was always rooting around with his hair as well he said..

Morris isnt good enough to 'play the hero' off the field, he should consider himself lucky you bothered. Shake your head at him next time!!

The player I know, he likes the kindness shown to him.

I saw Hagan earlier this year at Westpoint having lunch.

Our eyes met for a few seconds, a slight almost undetectable mutual dip of the heads (in simple acknowledgement) and we got on with what we were doing. A simple respectful gesture...no problems.

niall,

In 2005 I was at the Balmain Leagues Club with my sister to buy a Tigers Retro Jersey plus some other gear.. for my nephews 27th birthday.

While we were there I saw Chris H near the foyer. I told my sister we should ask if he would mind signing the jersey. We were stunned when he said he would take the jersery with him and get the whole team to sign it. He got my sisters number and gave her a call the day after a match they played in Canberra to let her know she could pick up ther top from Concord Oval while they were training.

Unfortunatly they were on the field at the time so couldn't thank him again.

It was a pleasent shock that he offered to do that. We would have been happy getting his signature.
