Luke Lewis is a champion. A born footballer who you could play anywhere and he won't look out of place. He is as important to Penrith as Thurston is to the Cowboys IMO.

He is also a born leader too IMO, he does alot of the revving up on the field for Penrith and is a great vice-captain to Petero. IMO would be a great NSW captain.

Yep - played for George Freeman, Lenny McPherson, the Moran family, Robert Trimbole......;-)

When people nominate, can they explain which positions they played in? I think Norton played pivot, lock, second row, centre and hooker. Morris played wing, hooker, pivot and half (badly). Mannering has played second row, lock centre and I think wing.

Hayne and Inglis have played every position from fullback to pivot.

Thinking about it, Preston Campbell, although only having played fullback, pivot and half, demonstrated his immense utility value on Friday night, and deserves a big mention.

He was always so unassuming on the field too. Little did we know.

From memory Flannery played wing, centre, fullback, 5/8, hooker, lock and back row.

Bit of a unexpected one and mayby not number 1 but Chris Lawrence from the Tiers has played, FB, W, C,FE, L and SR and is only 22 althouh has obviously done his best work in the Centres

des hasler. Half, five eighth, lock and hooker. Even came of the bench in an origin game to play wing. And his biography was called "The Utility"

Craig Wing played in the centres for Australia, not that long ago either.

Also Michael Crocker played 5/8 for the Kangaroos once.. what the hell..

But best utilities, Craig Wing/Luke Lewis/Shaun Berrigan

Can't call Wing a ute - hooker and half are interchangeable. Nor Inglis, who plays the same regardless of his position

Yes, good call on Lewis. A class act.

Wing has played plenty of lock and centers over his career. He is the very definition of a utility player.

I'd say Lewis is probably the most versatile player can play centers/halves/lock equally as well, but Wing was a better player.

Jason Croker.

Started on the wing, moved to 2nd row, then to centre when Mal retired..then to lock and filled in at 5/8 whenever Daley was out.

I think he had a few games at fullback and hooker too. Played over 300 games, and I doubt 100 of them were in the same spot.

Another candidate would be Fittler

But i guess that was more of just a progression in his career

Centre, Lock, 5/8

Steve Menzies played 2nd row, lock, centre, and 6 on occasion. Probably spent some time standing on the wing too.
Michael Gillette and Jamie Buhrer might be a couple of utilities on the rise. I think both of them played 2nd row, centre, and 6 at some stage in 2011.

Im biased but no way Wing was better player then Luke Lewis imo.
