Don King looks set to promote David Tua's next chance at securing a world boxing title.

Tua is lining up a fight against arch rival Hasim Rahman for a shot at the soon-to-be vacant WBA heavyweight title.

Tua's manager Kevin Barry says it would not be a bad thing if Don King promotes their second world title challenge.

Barry says they worked with King during the last fight against Rahman and did not have any problems.

The Tua-Rahman world title fight goes to a purse bid this time next week, with King likely to come out as the highest bidder.

And the news has raised a few eyebrows in the US.

The WBA organisation is stripping its heavyweight title from champion Roy Jones Junior, because he is hesitating fighting in the division.

American commentator James Smith says people are disappointed not to see Jones fighting again.

But he says fight fans also realise this is Tua's big chance of winning a world title.

He says this could be the crowing moment of Tua's career.

James Smith says Roy Jones Junior does not want to fight in the heavyweights, because he cannot secure a massive payday, and he does not want to lose.

If Tua beats Rahman, a big if which i cant see happening unless Rahman is in poor shape like last time, I still cant see him winning a World title other than the WBO. Byrd and Lewis are better boxers, as are at least Vitali Klitchsko and probably Vlad as well. I would also rate Holyfield as better and probably Tyson (although Tua Tyson would be a great fight). Tua does have a punchers chance against everyone but that is it. He would still KO the Johnson, Oquendo, Mesi, Ruiz etc but he is not quite a World Champion caliber boxer. It is a shame though, because he is the only top fighter who is actually prepared to fight other top ranked heavyweights on a regular basis. If all heavyweights took the fights Tua takes, it would be a lot better.

By the way, Jones would beat Tua very comfortably. I would not be surprised to see a Jones-Tua fight down the track, particularly if Tua does somehow sneak a vacant World Title belt. It is the lowest risk fight, with the most to gain in terms of credibility for Jones.

I hope you're wrong, that could be a bigger snorefest than Tua-Lewis.

I think Tua has a fair chance against Rahman. He'll have to KO him, but its not like Hasim has never been hurt before. Rahmans a good fighter, but not much above the second tier of fighters you mentioned.

Tua landed almost all of the power punches in their last bout, but Rahman displayed better ring-generalship pretty much every round & I cant see it being different next time.

Most people would probably agree with you, he outboxed Tua in both, but I get the feeling Rahmans problem when he fights Tua is that he does just enough to win, & in passages, just enough to survive.
