I've been watching Southland a bit of late. It's not quite as good as The Wire or The Shield, but it's a very good cop drama nonetheless

Speaking of the Wire, Idris Elba's new show Luther is actually pretty good, this was shocking as FOTM was the one who recommended it. Definitely no The Wire though. The Wire was far more realistic.

Having worked as a journo for 2 years I can vouch for how realistic the News Room was in season 5.

Chuck. Its one everyone in the house likes. And Psych. Sanctuary is more addictive than it has any right to be, so is Primeval.

Also Fringe, Haven, Warehouse 13 - all good and not "well known".

Spartacus. Probably one of the best TV shows I have ever laid my eyes on. Brutal Violence + Borderline pornography sometimes the brutal violence takes place during the borderline pornography. Like in the first episode of Spartacus Vengeance when they when to the whore house and killed all the men.

The Shield was a poor man's The Wire imo
I did enjoy The Shield (just smashed through the 7 seasons within the last month or so) but nothing comes close to The Wire in that genre
