Tyrone Roberts - Hooker

The more I watch him the more he reminds me of Shaun Berrigan.
Like Berrigan, Roberts first instinct is to run the ball. Berrigan started the top grade in the halves, then the centres, but eventually found a home in the number 9. He even represented Australia as the number one rake.
To me Roberts lacks the finesse to be a top notch number 7 but would make a gun number 9. He has great little running game, his speed off the mark is ideal for number 9. He would cause havoc around the ruck with show and go.

What's the story with Dobson? Is he off to England again?
Dobson could a do a job at halfback. You don't need a two gun halves, but you do need a gun hooker.
The Broncos won the 06 comp with a half pairing of Lockyer and Shane Perry, Berrigan in the 9 and Hodges/Hunt in the 1.

Clydesdale has had a couple of nice touches in first grade and provided some spark coming off the bench. I would like to see more but so far he has been a little underwhelming. Levi, I'm a fan of. I like his aggressiveness and would make an ideal bench utility.

I would not be surprised if Wayne tries to sign Ben Hunt or has at least considered the prospect. Rumour was he was interested last year but he denied it. If he signed Hunt I would be ecstatic. Tap Kurt on the shoulder and send him to the ESL and move Tyrone to the utility role. Broncos are yet to offer Hunt a deal. My belief is they won't cos they will put Milford at 7. This time last year i thought Hunt was not in Tyrone's league but i feel this year his talent has just clicked big time. He is a pure halfback.

Hunt is close to no chance to coming to Newcastle. Him and his missus has just started building a house over at Bridgeman Downs

Jack Cogger and Brock Lamb are meant to be the next big things but they're only 16-17 so quite a few years away yet, Feeney is a competent half at NYC level but I'd be shocked if he amounted to a decent 1st grade half. In conclusion there's just nothin on the horizon in terms of young halves. Hooker is a lot brighter between Clydesdale and Daniel Levi

Never understood how anyone saw Dobson being a threat to Robert's position. He's a dud with an average attacking game. Minto has been a let down but given he doesn't have the experience, it isn't much of a surprise.

There's a massive difference between decent Qld cup fullback/half to competent NRL halfback

Agreed

However, he was a key member of the Cutters premiership side in 2013 and looked good in NSW Cup early this season before picking up an injury. I havent seen him play since though so he may well have gone to complete shit, doubt it though.

I think he showed enough in his FG games for us that he is up to NRL level but was a bit under done as a fullback. Id like to see him given a shot over Plodson if either of our 1st choice halves goes down again

Dobson can't even fire in NSW Cup when he'd easily be the most experienced half in that comp. Enough said.

True. Disappointment

Hunt is close to no chance to coming to Newcastle. Him and his missus has just started building a house over at Bridgeman Downs

He could always rent it. Will have fun paying it off if Broncs can't afford to pay him the 450 k a year he wants. Given their cap issues his chances of that are slim.

I think Kurt leaving should always be in any future scenario.

Roberts got a ton of talent. But have you ever sat back after a game and thought to yourself he had a very good halfback game.
All of his good games have come off the back of his running game, not his kicking or passing or directing the team around the park.
I just think his talents are better suited to hooker
