Binge & Alvaro will be interesting ones, fairly sure they played their first senior game in NSW yet have gone onto represent Queensland in U18's.

I suppose with Auva'a it depends on which nation he chooses.

The situation with Melbourne is pretty interesting. Looks like it'll soon be Qld & NZ vs. NSW & Victoria. Hell you could thread WA in with NSW too.

Queensland are going to have a lot less NRL experienced players and it wouldn't surprise me to see them struggle like they have in U/18s.

A quick Queensland line-up if all potentials are available.

1. Lachlan Maranta
2. Aaron Whitchurch
3. Tautau Moga
4. Hymel Hunt
5. Kyle Feldt
6. Matt Beddow
7. Ben Hampton
8. Chris Grevsmuhl
9. Dean Blackman
10. Korbin Sims
11. Mitchell Frei
12. Jason Taumalolo
13. Benn Malley

14. Kurt Mann
15. Stephen Coombe
16. Dylan Napa
17. Edrick Lee

Plenty of subs. too. French, Santo, Oates, Leedy, Berwick, Auva'a, Hegarty, McGrady, Abduhl-Rahman, Mybe, Cullen, Frisby, Jacks, Foster, Veukiso, Bernstrom, Timu, Martin.

Avua'a played U18 for Queensland 2 years ago.

Ben Hampton wuould have to be a certainty for QLD at 7 and Id like to think Young Tonumaipea would be a good chance on the wing for NSW.

Was one of the Veukiso boys the guy embroiled in some sort of uncertainty regarding eligibility? I'd love to see Francis get a go as an impact player, he's been getting some good numbers. What's your view on Alex Elisala Pete? A very versatile player who seems to have done well in every position he's played.

Thought he was a Kiwi?

Otherwise a very handy utility player and would definitely come into calculations.

Moved over at an early age, Logan Brothers boy. Don't think he's made his intentions clear, I'd have thought we'd be enquiring about him at least but I'm biased.

He played U18s for Queensland back in 2010 but later accepted a selection into the Junior Kiwis squad and I haven't heard anything since.

victorian juniors should not be eligible for nsw or qld unless each state officially adopts a 'minor state' and recognises it officially on their jersey. (like the magpie on the tigers jersey).

better still, there should also be a wa v vic under 20's origin played as a curtain raiser with the future aim of vic v wa origin games to be played as curtain raisers to nsw v qld origin games 3 times a year!

It will come to a head eventually.

You cant have the most populous state also locking up 2 states that will produce plenty of players in the 20 years I feel.

It's a great concept and it reminds a bit of what the NBA All Stars weekend is like.

They have a Rookies Game and a Legend game.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Under 20's comp suspended for 1 week during Origin III (or the weekend before) and seeing -

Rookies Origin - VIC v WA
Rookies Origin - NSW v QLD
Rookies Origin - NZ North v NZ South
Rookies Origin - Melanesia v Polynesia
Legends Origin - NSW v QLD

hell if they could sling it, maybe even a celebrity game as a muckaround thing

does nyone know the selection qualifications are ? Do players have to be playing Toyota Cup ?

The new eiligibilty rules for 20s SOO state that players cannot be younger than 17 years at the time of game and can't turn 21 by midnight 31st Dec. Players playing NSW Cup, QCup, NYC and SG Ball are all eligible.

Furthermore if a player has already represented SOO at 18s then that stands as their eligibility. Outside this there are 6 ( based on birth place, school, jnr footy club) questions all players need answer and if there is a clear majority then that is their eligibility. Where there is no majority cases will be determined by a panel.

Players from states outside NSW/QLD are eligible through their junior rep competition ie. Either Mal Meninga (QLD) or SG Ball (NSW)

Dual national eligibility NZ and OZ players can play under the 6 question eligibility or under 18s SOO but will be ineligible for any Age based Kiwi teams ie. jar kiwis. It won't affect senior eligibility.

NZ will hold their own SOO style comp for seniors and 20s possibly as early as 2013.

These rules are also now enforceable for senior SOO eligibility for any new players. Similar eligibility is also now in place for senior city v country.

That's great to hear, I was worried that this would be a way for Australia to try and poach players from other nations. Why can't they apply the same rule for senior level SOO?

So effectively if you now play in an Under 20's Origin match for NSW, QLD or NZ, then you're locked into that for the seniors - is that right?

McKinnon and Cordner pick themselves as they're both doing well in 1st grade, Siro is a gun. I haven't seen much if Vaipuna (or Ha'angana for that matter) but going by stats Ha'angana is maybe just ahead
