Would've thought there'd be a line of guys ahead of Peeters. Coombe injured? Dorante has been good most of this season. Alvaro?

Alvaro maybe a Blue.

Peeters selection is a surprise, but he's been pretty handy for the Broncs.

Sims is a weird one. You can't say he's picked Qld for the opportunity to play Origin (like Tamou)... would have more chance at making NSW.

He must actually just think of himself as a Qlder

I can't understand how, if any of you Qlder's lived in NSW for a couple of years you wouldn't consider yourself a Blue would you?

Despite the terrible ball control was a pretty good game. Lots of tense moments. Some pretty good displays of potential. Kane Evans looked great, was pretty happy with Siejka, even though I still don't know how to pronounce his name. And Edrick Lee, pretty excellent pace right there.

1. Lachlan Maranta – Went very well, good player.
2. Hymel Hunt –
3. Tautau Moga - Talented
4. Edrick Lee - Needs to bulk up but very elusive runner. Will make FG IMO.
5. Aaron Whitchurch – Poor
6. Kurt Mann -
7. Ben Hampton - Neither QLD halve organised very well IMO.
8. Travis Peeters
9. Alex Elisala - Good service
10. Dylan Napa –
11. Mitchell Frei –
12. Caleb Timu -
13. Chris Grevsmuhl -
14. Benn Malley -
15. Corey Oates -
16. Brandon Tago -
17. Moses Mbye –

The QLD pack was tough and hard working but lacked impact.

Fullback - Evander Cummins - I was just wishing he would return the ball with momentum, too much dancing.
Wing - Young Tonumaipea - Solid
Centre - Cheyse Blair - Thought he would do better
Centre - Ed Murphy - Anonymous but didn't make too many mistakes.
Wing - Chanel Mata’Utia - Can drop a ball, don't rate him.
Five-eighth - Harry Siejka - Talented but doesn't make smart decisions and is questionable defensively.
Halfback - Jacob Miller - Solid in defense for a 7 and led the team well.
Prop - Matt Groat - Barely played after the first 10 mins (must have got injured). Tackled strongly but his carries weren't as dominant as you'd expect at this level.
Hooker - Michael Lichaa - Decent
Prop - Kane Evans - The obvious standout. Big strong runner with pace and mobility like a centre.
Second row - Alex McKinnon - Strong game but too many mistakes. Gave away a few penalties and dropped the ball a couple of times.
Second row - Boyd Cordner - Dominant
Lock - Vaipuna Tia Kilifi - Good cover defender, played well.
Interchange - Paul Carter - Gave the team spark when he came on.
Interchange - Jack Stockwell - He needs to strengthen his carry, the ball kept popping out in the impact. Poor game.
Interchange - David Klemmer - Solid but don't think he played much.
Interchange - Shannon Boyd - Can't remember too much of him.

Overall it was a very sloppy game and most players will need to improve significantly to make the step up to NRL players.

Yeah.......overall, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the game. Seemed only a couple of players who actually looked like they could be "something" in the NRL

I'd like to see this game as a curtain raiser to SOO seniors....and not as a stand alone game like it was played.

I've given my thouhts elsewhere, I might as well give my first impressions here...

New South Wales

Evander Cummins - Looked likely on a few occasions but just didn't go on with it. A couple of cheap errors made for a disappointing performance.
Young Tonumaipea - Wasn't really all that effective I thought.
Cheyse Blair - Solid performance. Summed up the situation well for the first try and did a couple of 1%ers you'd like to see from somebody with NRL experience.
Ed Murphy - Quiet with the footy but I thought he did a reasonable job on Lee defensively. Couple of strong hits on him.
Chanel Mataútia - Worst player on the field. Just not his night.
Harry Seijka - Good performance. Don't know about MotM, thought his defence let him down and he took some bad options at times but overall his kicking game was pretty good and he scored what was the match winner with a sizzling run at the line.
Jacob Miller - Little quiet. Sort of floated in and out of the game. Couple of decent kicks here and there.
Matt Groat - Solid. Would have expected better from an NRL player.
Michael Lichaa - Didn't notice him really.
Shannon Boyd - Quiet game. Don't really remember much from him.
Alex McKinnon - Solid. Would have expected better from him though.
Boyd Cordner - Good performance. Couple of captain plays here & there.
Vaipuna Tia Kilifi - Didn't really notice him.

Paul Carter - Looked threatening but kept making cheap errors.
Jack Stockwell - Carter esque performance too.
David Klemmer - Bent the line with practically every carry. Along with...
Kane Evans - Swung the game. My MotM and I thought he was great when he came on.

Queensland

Lachlan Maranta - Bit quiet to begin with but finished strongly with a couple of strong runs.
Hymel Hunt - Had a couple of strong carries and poked his nose through a number of times.
Tautau Moga - Promising touches and did really well to send Lee over. Couple of dud options from him but otherwise a good performance given his lack of match fitness.
Edrick Lee - Impressive. Fantastic speed to score the second try and poked his nose through on a couple of occasions.
Aaron Whitchurch - Reminded me a lot of Copley. Made a couple of good plays, particularly to score and was unlucky not to be awarded a try assist before then but cheap errors hurt his game big time.
Kurt Mann - Looked good with the ball in hand but his boot wasn't on and he came up with a few costly mistakes in the second half.
Ben Hampton - Solid game from Ben. Good kicking game but he needed more support out there.
Mitchell Frei - Heavily involved but didn't really bend the line or anything. Solid.
Alex Elisala - Mixed game. His service was kind of messy and he made a couple of ordinary attempts at tackle but he came up with some big hits too and ran the ball well out of dummy half.
Dylan Napa - Probably the Qld MVP. Not a flashy performance but just the little things he did and how he inspired the defensive line was impressive. Qld looked better with him on the field.
Chris Grevsmuhl - Good game as well. Probably the only starting forward capable of punching through the line and he had a couple of good carries. Was a bit quiet in the second half but definitely some promising signs.
Caleb Timu - Tried hard but physically didn't think he was up to this game. Crazy to see him grubber through and collect it.
Benn Malley - Dallas Johnson esque. Couple of really good tackles in defence and a few strong carries in the middle. Impressed me.

Brandon Tago - Impressive when he came on. Kept putting on big hits and had a few strong carries. Probably didn't have the best conditioning but a strong performance none the less.

Corey Oates - Physically wasn't up to this and was found wanting on a few occasions.

Travis Peeters - Average. Didn't really do all that much.

Moses Mybe - Crisper service than Elisala but didn't really do all that much otherwise.

Scrappy game, NSW's errors made it more of a contest than it should have been but I was proud of the young Qlders regardless.
