Under pressure - 2010

Which NRL player will be most under pressure to perform in 2010? I say Chris Sandow.

*Chief playmaker of the least successful club of the last 20 years.
*No backup half at Souths.
*Horror 2009 season.
*He'll have no excuses playing behind the 2010 pack.

The guy has ability. For some reason, the guy was pathetic this year. In all reality, he deserved to be dropped. Souths have taken a mighty risk to stick by him.

I think people will continue to expect a lot from Darren Lockyer. So much so he could become a weak link for QLD origin if he chooses to continue.

If Tuqiri comes on board,he better be worth the effort of chasing him around the world,so the preesure will be on him from league and union fans.

Justin Poore.

Not to keep his position, but to live up to all the hype around who he would sign for and his reported paypacket.

Especially since the Eels were going so well without him at the end of the season. If they struggle I think he'll cop some scrutiny.

Sam Burgess - There is huge hype surrounding this kid, he showed some good form during the tri-nations and got tongues wagging but he is heading to Souths who are known cellar dwellers. They have a very average halfback in Sandow, a new coach and several new signings all looking to make their mark at the club. He will have Dave Taylor stealing a lot of his limelight too. With him coming from the ESL he will have a lot of pressure to keep up his form week in week out in a much harder competition than he is used to, with a lot more eyes watching him and waiting for him to slip up.

I cant think of a single player in the NRL under more pressure to perform than this guy.

The player under the most pressure will be the played deemed the 'Face of the Game'. If we falter once more there, we are in the you-know-what. Outside of that, I can't go past Todd Carney. His every move will be under the micro-scope on and off the field at a struggling club.

Re: Chris Sandow

The blokes job is to give good, early ball to John Sutton and improve his kicking game. If he can do that, he will have a good year. Sutto is our main playmaker.

Re: Sam Burgess

No one except the media is expecting this bloke to come out and dominate immediately. He will probably take a full season to get up to speed with the rigours of the NRL, and that is fine by me.

Thurston - Cowboys have made the finals only twice in the 5 years he has been there. Not a great record for best halfback in the game.

I put Sutton in the same category as Sandow. Sutton is pretty inconsistent himself, for all the hype, he can't consistently put a string of good performances together. Sandow has always been ordinary though IMO, too much ego with not enough talent to back it up. I honestly think think Souths would be a top 2 side next year if they had decent halves, but I'm not even sure if they'll make the 8 with those 2, you simply don't know what you're going to get.

Setting up more tries than any other player in the NRL isn't a bad effort for someone who can't string good performances together. :sarcasm:

I think Jarryd Hayne will be under a fairly large amount of pressure in 2010 to repeat this year's heroics. I also think he's good enough to back it up. But a few bad games and the wolves will come out, that's for sure.

I think Steve Michaels is under pressure Career-wise.

If he doesn't improve he could spend the rest of his career in QLD Cup.
