Your right about Ewen McKenzie... most Melbourne people wouldn't know him. But if he was to be a coach for a Victorian team I'm sure many Mebournites would quickly find out where he is from.

Also its true the Warratahs had a debt of $6million in 2000. But that was down to bad management, and so the ARU had to step in and take control. This year the Warratahs made a profit of $2million and are doing well securing sponsorship.

I dont think Melbourne Storm give away that many free tickets either, they have about 12,000 solid supporters that turn up to all there home games and about 9000 members.
I dont get how you can say Union is more popular than League in Victoria based on Wallaby crowd attendanceswhen you had one test match at Colonial this year, where half the crowd was made up of travelling Brits, immigrated Brits and travelling New South Welshmen.
