McaLeer wanted the amalgamation, his board didn't in light of the mutli million dollar refurb they invested in of their own premise. Word was in the vicinity of $17m, to which they are financing from cash flow alone.

The sharks licensed club will more than likely fall over inside of 5 years due to the mass debt passed onto it again from football in lieu of the development deal, but that is the purpose of that entity, always has been notwithstanding constant covenants being breached which added further financial stress on the joint. Hell, auditors notes made an admission of breach in its last set of notes to the accounts before it occurred.

Tradies wont have a bar of an amalgamation - they'll sit back and watch it fold.

The new board would now see the forest through the trees.
